Oh Dear God Say It's Not True: "Martha Stewart TV Show Suspended"

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=597&ncid=772&e=2&u=/nm/20040518/tv_nm/media_marthastewart_program_dc

I remember a commercial for her line of K-Mart crap she did right before the bust that featured her demonic hellspawn bastard children in the backyard, setting up a leisurely brunch while Martha's voice-over explained the different china patterns she uses for specific meals: "When we make paella, we use the Montecito"...all of the children smiled at each other, and at Martha, and at the plates and knives and forks. Looks like the Montecito will be gathering some dust.

OK, enough of that, on to the article quotes:

"Martha Stewart's home decorating and cooking show will be suspended for the coming television season because she is awaiting sentencing after being convicted in a questionable stock sale, her company said on Tuesday."

"She is scheduled to be sentenced on June 17 and faces possible prison time.

MSO said Martha Stewart Living Television would be placed on hiatus after it wraps up its 11th season in September 2004. Nearly 40 jobs will be eliminated in the television division, leaving 35 positions, spokeswoman Elizabeth Estroff said.

"I am deeply sorry that it has become necessary for the show to go on hiatus until my personal legal situation is resolved," Stewart said in a statement issued by MSO. "I hope to resume our close collaboration just as soon as I am able to do so."

1. I'm sorry to hear it.
The whole trial was a travesty. Injustice lives.

2. They took her show off

here in Los Angeles the day after the verdict came in, it pissed me off because I like Martha Steward. I bet they wouldn't have taken her off the air if she was a repuke instead of a Democrat. :argh:

3. Oh, for God's sake
I hate those damn Repukes - they did this to her just because she is a Democrat and a strong woman. Meanwhile, Kenny "Felon" Lay is still free as a bird after ruining, literally ruining, the lives of thousands of Enron employees.

Just for that, I'm going to resubscribe to Martha's magazine. I let it lapse when dh was fired last year, but I'm reupping.

God damn Repukes.

5. I like Martha. What ticks me
off is she is the scapegoat while Kenny Boy still runs around.

6. It's all just too arch for me
<Rant>

Martha Stewart is thrown to the wolves as "compensation" for the indictments of so many Bush supporters, but out come the hip comments about her fashion sense and "demonic hellspawn bastard children".

The hundreds of arch comments about her decorating her prison cell are just as bad. Maybe worse, made worse by repetition. After repetition. After repetition.

I don't give a hoot-and-a-holler about the frilliness of her esthetic tastes. It doesn't hurt me a bit. But the idea that the government will go after someone as political quid pro quo is a little more frightening than "hellspawn".

9. OK, I respect your opinion...
...as I also try to respect the opinions of all who post here. I challenge ideas that appear in some posts but I generally shy away from attacking the poster. That's just me, however.

The commercial, and the values it represented, turned me off. In a major way. I don't wish to offend anyone who likes and / or admires Martha...but I do not.

Yeah, she's getting a raw deal. Yeah, "Kenny Boy" will probably get a slap on the wrist, if anything at all. I don't like or dislike someone because they're on the recieving end of justice...or injustice.

As far as the hip comments, well...that's the way I write. Now you know.

7. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
I was sick of Martha after the summer of 2001, when I worked at K-Mart. Her ugly mug and her name was on everything...I mean everything! It got so sickening that I haven't cared for her ever since.
