Is American Idol officially a joke now?
People, what the HE&$ is going on when the best singers are in the bottom? I am not one one for conspiracy theories, but what is happening on the show makes one wonder!

Am I the only one?

1. Unfortunately.... I think it's the same people....
...who are polling for Bush. They voted. And, yes, it does seem like a joke. Latoya and Fantasia deserved to be the final two. Hands down.

2. NOW?!?
It's ALWAYS been a joke. Most of those people wouldn't know how to sing properly or tastefully if their lives depended on it.

3. Simon said it a few weeks ago
"That is what you get when you let America vote"

So true, so true...

6. woah, wait. you mean that show was meant to be serious in the first place?
i think theirs enough untalented people in the music business as it is... why does network TV need to put more out there?

come on, 'she bangs' was bad enough the first time around.

7. Retaliation
against Ruben beating Clay last year? It definitely makes you wonder. After tonight I refuse to watch another show, even though Fantasia lives 15 minutes away from me and she is the best performer that show has ever seen.

9. It's a joke
And those judges really piss me off. What purpose do they serve? Any stiff can sit up there drinking out of those oversized coke glasses and tell if someone's good or bad.

10. After tonight ...
I'm done with the show! If all four of them were of equal talent, I wouldn't have a problem ... somebody has to go every week. But Latoya gets dumped, Fantasia is in the bottom two and Jasmine (who kept going out of pitch) stays??? This type of vote has happened too many times this season. As Diana sang last night, enough is enough!

11. I agree
when Jennifer got kicked off and the redhead kid stayed, I was pissed but I understood it to be a popularity contest. But Fantasia has more personality in her little finger than the entire bunch. Plus the girl can SANG!!!!

Latoya is the best singer EVER to be on that show.

Some people have said that it has always been a joke and I wonder how often they have watched this season. Unfortunately, it now appears to be a joke and I am sure viewership is going down next week.

12. SPOILER RESPONSE
What the....(?)

Ok, I know there MUST be a lesson here about what happens when people don't vote....

That's it...whatever little credibility this show had at the beginning is GONE.

I think "The Three Divas" (Fantasia, LaToya and Jennifer) should cut an album as a trio, to spite everyone.

LaToya had the most poise, class, maturity and talent of all the Idol contestants.

Even Paula Abdul was crying in shock (a Velveeta moment to be sure, but STILL...)

13. I like the Three Divas idea - that would be an awesome CD!
Even Paula Abdul was crying in shock

RANDY looked like he was going to cry, too! I don't think I've ever seen him that visibly upset when someone got kicked off. He looked completely stunned!

14. The Three Divas
I am liking that. I am sure that those three will end up having a longer career than whoever wins this. For some reason I have a feeling that it will not be Fantasia! SAD, it is just sad!

16. I don't watch the shit, but..
I have had the misfortune of being at my neighbors' house a few times while they watched it, and I have to say... all of the final 10 or so are mediocre at best.

18. Hehe... I do have to admit
there is a certain "train wreck"-like morbid curiosity at work. But, being a professional musician, I have this need to keep an eye on the "mainstream" to see how trends are going and what kind of stuff I'm up against. I do stand by my "mediocre" statement though. I was amazed at the amount of flat notes and bad tone I heard the few times I watched this season's crop.

20. Just the name "American Idol" cracks me up
I guess it's good fluff, and I understand the need for contemporary pop music, but almost all these kids are really not that good. I have heard a few of the singers while flipping thru, and haven't seen anything that stopped me in my tracks. Being in the music scene for years, I have heard so many people who can sing as well as these kids. They need a show that would show multi-talents, not just singing.
Maybe if that red haired kid was plucking away on a piano and singing with that monotone voice he has, he could have stayed a little longer.

22. La Toya DESERVED to get the boot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only kidding--but that's the only way to get attention around here!

The bottom two should have been Jasmine and Fantasia.

My money's on Diane now--the best singer left. Jasmine is out of her league now, and Fantasia ain't so hot.
