Computer help: Partitioning a hard drive?
I'm about to buy a new computer, and part of its purpose will be to play old games that won't run under Windows XP (compatibility mode issues, DirectX issues, etc prevent this from happening 90% of the time).

I was thinking that when I had it built that I'd ask the builder to partition a segment of the hard drive to boot/run under Windows 98SE, but I recently ran into an option that looks cheaper.. a program called "Partition Magic 8.0"

Has anyone here used this program? I am decidedly not computer saavy, and I'm hoping that it's pretty easy to learn. Any words of wisdom? (thanks!)

Works with almost all systems.

There is a similar tool (under several names) out, from a company named Paragon. It's not quite as good, but way cheaper and should get the job done as well.

Edit:
You can do the trick with Windows' own tool as well - but your data would be lost. With a new computer there is no need for expensive tools.

2. It's a new computer?
Why don't you format and partition yourself? I did it. If I did, anybody can do it.

3. Partition Magic does NOT suck
It is a good solid choice.

I used when I partitioned a box for a RH Linux partition. RH is one of the few distros left that will not help you through this progress with already made tools.

4. You might be able to play those games via an emulator like dosbox
or if they are scumm games like the graphical adventure games Lucasarts made, scummvm. If you do have to partition your box, partition magic is fine and fairly easy to use.
