Poll question: Heart: Underrated band or Sellout Losers?
I think they're a truly underrated band, and that does include their foray into large hair in the 80's. What say DU???

5. they were pretty raucous for the time
and they played their own instruments! I'd say underrated. They did become sort of a cliche, though. You know me, I will defend most female rockers.

6. "Magic Man," "Crazy on You," "Barracuda" -- all great songs.
"These Dreams" -- not so much.

8. I think female rockers
tended to be unfairly held to a higher, or was it a lower ( look, they can actually play their instruments!) standard... not sure if that is still the case. At least bands like Heart opened the door, somewhat for more female guitarists, etc.

Crazy on You and Barracuda still sound pretty good.

7. Never was bananas about them
But they caught my ear in their early days because their original lead guitarist was pretty smokin' for the times, doing mad wangbar work before Eddie showed up.

9. Ann Wilson...
One of the best rock vocalists of all time... regardless of gender.

10. Underrated, but not including the 80s
Absolutely love Magic Man, Barracuda, Dog & Butterfly, Dreamboat Annie, Heartless, Straight On, Even it Up, Bebe Le Strange, Mistral Wind... can't think of anything from the 80s I liked though.

12. They're my hometown girls!
I'm a big fan. Saw them just this last winter - they were guest vocalists with the Funk Brothers when the Standing In the Shadows of Motown tour came to town. They still sound wonderful.

15. Friend knew some of the band
He said that, after haggling with record companies in the early 1980's, the band split among members who wanted to quit and those who consciously sold out to do pop-rock music and ballads. It's tragic to compare "Dreamboat Annie" to "Bad Animals".
