6. the band not the actor
isn't the actor a right winger? Ironic since the band is very leftist. At the end of their second LP (which I sold because it was on rare vinyl and worth a ton) they have a repeating sample that says "Bush is a dickhead" over and over.

15. rural Nebraska?
ouch. I think in the 1st congressional district that it's mostly had one of the highest percentage of any congressional district to Bush, over 70%.

not really emo, they were sort of hardcore on the first 7", then the LP became sort of experimental hardcore/indie, then the new one is apparentely more of that.

but since it's mostly emo stuff like Cursive in Nebraska, you are stuck in a horrible place.

7. You are the Indie God...
but this is from someone who thinks 'The Dandy Warhols' are indie. How does one discover such obscure music? I'm so tired of the usual stuff, but don't know where to look for new and interesting listening experiences. Any tips?

9. i just hang out at other sites and label sites
like here: www.cmhwak.net
www.pitchforkmedia.com
www.collective-zine.co.uk

find any band or label site, and there's usually a ton of links to other bands, labels and zines.

and I'm really involved in the local scene. i know of just about every band that plays around here.

14. Thanks!
As a matter of fact, that's what my daughter does. She's really into the local bands, and has discovered some out-of-state bands from the links you mentioned. I think it's great to support music from your local artists.

10. OMG
I feel so freaking old! Only heard of Evergreen and Blink 182. My newest additions are Papa Roach (my lazy ass guitarist 20-year old knows the band members) and Reel Big Fish (I absolutely love ska and it makes him nutso that I do).

11. What Evergreen?
it's the one from SoCal in the early-mid 90's that broke up a looooooong time ago, not the ex-Slint one from Louisville or any other band that might share the name.

17. Willful Eclecticism Is No Substitute For Good Music
I appreciate searching out unusual music from unusual sources, but I'll take a good listen over indie cred any day.

they were a SoCal band from the early-mid 90's that broke up a LONG time ago (long time in emo standards that is, most such bands don't last more than 2 years)
