Cause despite what you hear, you can't eat words, really.

4. Yes, but think of all the jobs I'm creating in the publishing industry!
According to Bushmath(TM), I've created...like...10 new publishing jobs!

3. Wow, what'd you get?
Considering how much books cost, I can easily see spending that much, even at a discount.

5. 10 copies of the same thing, unfortunately
And the sad thing is it's my own book. Don't ask me what it is, either, cause I'm not gonna reveal my secret identity. But anyway, there's a bunch of people I'm gonna give them away to.

10. Doubt it would sell like hotcakes on DU, patdem

it's academic nonfiction, which explains why it's so friggin' expensive. Even with the author's discount they cost $25.00 a pop.

19. Hey plaid...
I *LOVE* academic nonfiction.

Can you tell us the general topic....

and would it be something available in a well-stocked independent bookstore, or is it only a university bookstore type thing?

Here you were all thinking I was a nice mild-mannered full-figured union-supporting lesbian...and really, I'm a totally insane, undernourished vitriol-spewing hetero bitch from hell!

I really am not Ann Coulter. I promise.

On the other hand, on the body front, I got WAY more bulk than she does!

13. and the tragic thing is ...
These days, you don't even need to borrow a wheelbarrow ... just tuck your purchase(s) under one arm and walk out.

(I was just pricing the new remote sensing textbook -- crikey!)

My mother and Hillary Clinton grow to resemble each other more and more closely with every passing day. It's freaky.

23. I'll tell her you said that.
Ever since she turned 60 last July she's been obsessing about whether she's still got it. I was describing some over-the-hill celebrity who's still going for the glamor thing recently and she asked me whether she was "better preserved" than said celebrity. At the Bruce Springsteen concert we went to last week, Liza said, "I think you're gonna have to break it to your mother that Bruce is better-preserved than she is." Cause my mother still is very attractive (so people tell me), but she can't do that sliding across the stage on your knees thing.

Bruce, man. At 54. I dunno how he does it.

24. It IS really weird.
My mother has actually been mistaken for Hillary a couple times. It's gotten worse since Hillary has 'become' a New Yorker; I think their styles converged.

But it's also a compliment, as I believe Hillary's still in her mid-50s and is, I agree, a very attractive lady.:-)

29. Just curious about a previous post adder...
You once said you and your partner once went to a nice restaurant but you left because the staff made you feel uncomfortable. I suppose that is was a gay bias type of thing. But that doesnt make sense because most big name restaurants I've been to have alot of gay staff. Especially waiters and I cant see how they would discriminate against you.

So was that the problem? Just asking.
