I think she's hilarious, and when she hits the racial hot-buttons, I think she is mocking racism. But a couple people have told me they think her act if offensive. So what do you think about her?

7. Decent actress, TERRIBLE comedian...

I'll give her credit: she was good on the Larry Sanders Show (of course, the program had such quality writing that it might not have required much from her).

But the Lenny Bruce of the 21st century?

Now, I've listened to some audio-recordings of Bruce, and trust me...the guy had wit. He possessed craft, and deftly savaged our cultural mores like a wolverine.

Silverman, on the other hand, has the demeanor of a sorority girl. She bellows out these meandering rants that are supposed to offend me, but I really just feel embarrased for her. The silence from the audience certainly didn't stem from shock.

George Carlin, who hasn't been up to snuff in the past 7 years (but still wonderful, nonetheless) has more talent in his goatee than Silverman does in her entire body.

But I've seen her on Conan. And she was funny on there.

She and my daughter were high school friends. They appeared in school productions of "Sweet Charity" and "Bye Bye Birdie".

I thought she was funny as hell. Haven't seen any of her recent work.
