1. I knew my other half
smoked/drank/liked porn before we got together - so my answer was the Benny Hinn thing - if it was for a laugh that'd be fine - but if I found out he was into any kind of religion let alone the fundie thing I'd be gone, or if I found our he was voting Liberal (which is the conservative party down my way) I'm not very tolerant maybe but I just couldn't be with a beleiver when I find it so irrational and no way could I live with a right wing thinker of any stripe - politics is just too big a thing for me

2. Yep

The fundie thing would push me over the edge. I think she likes the porn thing more than I do sometimes and we get drunk together from time to time,so I think we're good to go.

4. I left that out because it's too obvious a choice on this forum.
Same with "Listening to Limbaugh"

10. yep that'd do it for me to
or Christian Punk - apparently there's a fairly big scene in Melb - personally how you can be a punk and a christian has me a bit baffled - although I s'pose it's just a reflection of the fact that many people think that Blink 182 and GreenDay are punks.

8. Drugs
I fought my own battle with drugs and booze a long time ago and, by the grace of God, have been sober for 25 years this year. The one thing I could not put up with would be being around someone who was using drugs. For one thing, it would make it much easier for me to start again, for another, it would just be too painful for me to watch.

Fortunately, my wife was previously married to a druggie who ended up in jail and she made it clear to me from the start that the first time I did drugs, she was gone. That's fine with me -- she's a wonderful woman and it gives me more motivation to stay clean.

9. PORN?
why is that on there? That is a plus in my book :). I would vote for christian rock. I don't mind religious people but something about organized religion and rock n' roll mixing seems very wrong.

11. There are more than a few feminist libs who have a problem with it.
Even I think that it's an exploitative industry. If I was a woman, I wouldn't be bothered by my man watching/reading a bit, but tons of porn indicates either an addiction, or that he's not quite satisfied by his woman.

I personally think porn is a good thing, overall (Though I HATE smut seeping into "regular" tv), but there are qualms about it other than just the religious ones...

15. I agree with you
I think the reason why the porn industry is so shady is due to the fact that sexuality is still taboo in many centers of power in our country (religion, gov't, etc.). I don't feel that porn itself is what is degrading women, it is the people who are running these companies and the way it is treated in our culture.

13. The drugs
Namely pot. I don't care for pot as most people who use it seem fascinated by it and addicted to it even though "it isn't addicting."

14. It's no more addicting than junk food
But some people with addictive personalities go overboard on that.

It's not addictive because there are no withdrawal symptoms, other than one's short-term memory and initiative coming back...

Make a cokehead or a heroin user (or even many alcohol or nicotine addicts) so cold turkey and you will see chills, vomiting, termors, hysteria - not a pretty sight.

Most people I knew in high school & colleged used it occasionally, and 15~20 years later, almost none of them EVER use it.

I think it's harmless, except for the lethargy it produces - a real hindrance to a career, or getting anything done.

25. where did you get that idea?
"It's not addictive because there are no withdrawal symptoms, other than one's short-term memory and initiative coming back..."

As someone who recently stopped using after more than ten years of heavy marijuana use I can tell you there are definetly physical and psychological withdrawl symptoms - and any drug and alchol counsellor or doctor will tell you the same.

It's not like the withdrawl you get from smack and it's not life threatening as withdrawl from some pills can be but it certainly exists.

That said I havn't become a born again and don't think it's a terribly harmful drug (unless you use as much as I did in which case it's really bad for your wallet) but it's not like it's completely harmless either

she is. If she was into watching porn, cool!!! If she's making movies (with others), I don't think I could handle that!!!!!

That's the only one that indicates serious brain damage or brain washing has already occured.

(But I'm married, so I don't have to worry about that anymore...)

20. Drugs (it really depends on what kind)
MJ or opium or booze I can deal with. No smack, PCP, or meth though.

Christian rock would require that headphones be used.

22. None of that is an instant trip out the door for me.
A lot of it depends on the attitude. I used to date a guy that would get stoned on Sunday mornings and listen to televangelists, laughing all the while. I gotta admit, - it's not my cup of tea, but I thought as entertainment goes, that's certainly understandable.

Everyone has things the love that their SO doesn't. It's only a problem if folks insist on sharing the joy.

23. I agree
My husband goes through phases where he is really into something. Some of the things that he had become really interested in I didn't really like, but I tried to be understanding. There are some things that I am really into that he isn't very enthused about either.
If I was casually dating someone, I probably wouldn't want to continue dating them if they were seriously addicted to cocaine, heroin, alcohol, or other hard drugs, by that I mean making it clearly more important than their health (like one guy I knew started using coke again a couple months after a heart attack), financial needs(buying more drugs when faced with eviction), and relationship. If I discovered that my husband had a serious addiction though, I'd try to work with him on that as long as I could emotionally handle it.

24. I can't choose two...but I think...
If skip ever started smoking, drinking and doing drugs, it would be totally over. I can't raise kids with a druggy/alcoholic. I grew up that way, and I won't do that to a kid...and the smoking thing gags me...so that will never happen.

27. I'd have to say chemicals in general
I have dealt with that on and off and I would never have a relationship with anyone who had that as an issue. I'm a mimimalist in this regard and I'd prefer someone on a similar wavelength. Life can be hard enough. That stuff just makes it worse.

Christian rock is a close second. :scared:

30. What's wrong with Benny Hinn
I know it's not laugh out loud funny and it's sexist, but still when they play the wacky music, start running around after each other, and slap the old man on the head it's kind of fun.
