Should I go to the manager and complain?

Knowing something of inventory management, I looked at my Cub Foods receipt today.

I shopped last night and bought 11 Sun Bird brand oriental seasonings. 3 of one flavor, 3 of another, 2 of a third, and 3 of a fourth.

So what does he do? He lumps them all as "11 of one flavor".

Shouldn't everything be accounted for properly? Not it looks like someone stole a couple of 3 different flavors... :eyes: And it wasn't me!

I did find it amazing that a 15 oz "ready to eat" Campbell's Sirlon burger soup in the needlessly plastic container sold for $0.84 LESS than the 18oz tin can version, though the "ready to eat" variety was on sale for $1.50 each, but a savings of 84 cents each?!

Or am I so desperate for a boyfriend that I'll nitpick every weird little nuance in my so-called life?

And if "My So Called Life", the entire series of one season, got released onto DVD, why not "Sliders"?!

1. I wouldn't.
It doesn't matter to you how you got billed, does it? I mean, it doesn't affect your recordkeeping.

If the store doesn't like keeping itemized inventory, that's their problem.

The price was X. They charged you X. You paid X. If thier inventory is going to be all screwed up thats their problem. There is a trade off between the wage cashiers are paid, checkout speed, and accuracy. As a consumer I would'nt worry about it too much.

during a physical inventory. THEN it really matters.

Seriously, it's this type of "bookkeeping" that drives prices up. The reasons behind electronic inventory are sound - you know what is selling, you know what sits on the shelf and has to be discarded after a sell-by date, etc. If the inventory is properly counted by bar-code or whatever method in the store, consumers save money. If the store has to spend hours correcting its counts, it has to pay the money to the employee who is correcting the count! (called "cycle counts, they CAN replace an annual inventory, IF the material is being rung up correctly)

Yep. As a consumer, worry about it. If it costs the store money, who do you think that money is coming from?

I wouldn't actually go in, and I wouldn't actually complain.

I think I'd be inclined to circle the offending items on a receipt or a copy of the receipt with the credit card info blocked out and then send the store management a memo by way of regular mail.

Just letting them know that, 'here's what happened' and, as you say "you know something of inventory management." Then suggest they may want to consider providing a brief review to their clerks and checkers about the topic.

Complaint seems unreasonably to me. You didn't suffer any harm and as ghastly as it may seem the store management may not care and may actually encourage such behaviour in order to improve speed at the payment counter.

Either the store does not care, or the employee will get in trouble.
