Yet more administration secrecy
And in another move to put more and more of this misadministration's operations behind a veil of secrecy, satellite photographs shot by the government have the roofs of the Whitehouse, Naval Observatory, and the Old Executive Office Building blurred so as not to show up details. The Secret Service is citing security concerns, however they left the roofs of the CIA building, the Pentagon, and the Supreme Court building unblurred, even though we have already had an attack on the Pentagon.

<snip>

WASHINGTON - The government is selectively blurring some of its
highest-quality aerial photographs of Washington to hide objects in plain
view on the roofs of the White House, Capitol and Treasury Department
(news - web sites).

Deferring to Secret Service worries about
terrorists, the government also obscured
aerial views of the Naval Observatory
compound where Vice President Dick
Cheney (news - web sites) lives. It made no
effort to blur detailed photographs showing
the Pentagon (news - web sites), Supreme
Court, CIA (news - web sites) headquarters,
Justice Department (news - web sites) or
FBI (news - web sites) headquarters. <snip>

I find this a bit suspicious, in the fact that while I can understand why they are blurring the WH, however it is odd that they are not blurring the roofs of buildings that are at equal or greater risk for attack, such as the Pentagon. Just makes me wonder what's going on up on the roof.

1. This kind of thing doesn not bother me.
Too much detail about potential physical targets should not be in the public domain.

Its the secrecy around ISSUES and POLICY thats the problem.

2. I agree with you to a point
However it bothers me that they are selectively blurring. Blur the WH, but not an equally attractive target such as the Pentagon? And to do this so the general public doesn't know what's up there, but any terrorist worth his salt can simply go up in any one of the surrounding skyscrapers and snap some photographs.

Just seems a little fishy to me, however everything this misadministration does seems fishy.
