CIA: Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S
Here's why Smirk starts to cry inside, just when he thought everybody forgot about "Bush Knew" and "9-11" and all that "conspiracy talk," too.

Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S

Washington Post/Common Dreams

By Bob Woodward and Dan Eggen
Saturday, May 18, 2002

The top-secret briefing memo presented to President Bush on Aug. 6 carried the headline, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.," and was primarily focused on recounting al Qaeda's past efforts to attack and infiltrate the United States, senior administration officials said.

The document, known as the President's Daily Briefing, underscored that Osama bin Laden and his followers hoped to "bring the fight to America," in part as retaliation for U.S. missile strikes on al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan in 1998, according to knowledgeable sources.

Bush had specifically asked for an intelligence analysis of possible al Qaeda attacks within the United States, because most of the information presented to him over the summer about al Qaeda focused on threats against U.S. targets overseas, sources said. But one source said the White House was disappointed because the analysis lacked focus and did not present fresh intelligence.

New accounts yesterday of the controversial Aug. 6 memo provided a shift in portrayals of the document, which has set off a political firestorm because it suggested that bin Laden's followers might be planning to hijack U.S. airliners.

BTW: The full article discusses how the Clinton Administration foiled an attempted Al Qaeda attack on American soil during the 2000 celebrations. What a difference a real President makes!

Ever notice the similarities?

Young Osama bin Laden

FDUI: Here's some background that spells out the Bush-Bin Laden connection, including how James R Bath, Bush's Texas Air National Guard buddy, became the bin Laden clan's US fixer:

2. Does this mean that Bush has lied?
Has Bush officially perjured himself in any way regarding pre-9/11 intelligence? It's clear that he lied, im just wondering if any of the lying is legally binding?

6. Until the GOP decides to be on the side of law...
...Bush will get away with it. I'm betting that there are more good Republicans than crooked Repugs.

Until then, here's an author who presents a cogent case pinning blame of 9-11 on where it belongs: The BFEE. While it's not perfect (too much devoted to missiles rather than passenger jets at the Pentagon and explosives rather than jet fuel at WTC), the article is a must-read if we want to beat Bushler in 2004.

September 11th and the Bush Administration:
Compelling Evidence for Complicity

by Walter E. Davis, PhD, Kent State University
October 29th 2003

This article will appear in Bernd Hamm (Ed) (2003).
Bushgang America. London: Zed Books.

SNIP...

Abstract

Why 9/11 was not prevented is one of the most critical questions in current times, because answers may well reveal to more people than ever before, the true nature of the U.S. corporate global empire – the most extensive and most destructive in human history. Newspapers across the U.S. called for an investigation into Bush's lies about the reason for war on Iraq. While it is relatively easy for the American people to accept deception for the killing of the Arab people in distant lands, few people will be as accepting if it is shown that this Administration was complicit in acts of atrocities against its own people.

The evidence I present in this article suggests that the most plausible explanation of the events surrounding September 11, 2001, is that the Bush Administration was complicit in the terrorist attacks and has orchestrated its cover-up. The sources cited contain extensive detailed information, additional sources, and analysis beyond what is possible to provide in this summary. I hope that this information will incite public outrage leading to full accountability.

soundgarden1, sorry if I couldn't answer your question directly. I'll do my best to find out the legal ramifications, today, if possible.

Then, again, look who's the son of the chief secret policeman.

7. BFEE Treasure Trove (Unionization a Great Excuse for a Re-Post)
These specialists work for a piece of the action, just like Al Capone, the man behind the BFEE business model. So, in honor of organized crime, a blast from the past...

Doubt the BFEE exists? Doubt Osama and Bush go waaay back? Doubt that the BCCI affair doesn't have relevance this election? Well, here's a virtual gold mine of Truth:

Bush, Harken Energy and links to Saudis, (Osama) bin ladin, BCCI. and drug money laundering
In 1979, Bush’s first business, Arbusto Energy, obtained financing from James Bath, a Houstonian and close family friend. One of many investors, Bath gave Bush $50,000 for a 5 percent stake in Arbusto. At the time, Bath was the sole U.S. business representative for Salem bin Laden, head of the wealthy Saudi Arabian family and a brother (one of 17) to Osama bin Laden. It has long been suspected, but never proven, that the Arbusto money came directly from Salem bin Laden.

Philip Uzielli, a wealthy investor and the owner of Executive Resources, a company based first in the Dutch West Indies and later in Panama. Uzielli put $50,000 into one of the early Arbusto partnerships. In January 1982, his company bought ten percent of Arbusto's stock for a cool $1 million. The investment made Uzielli Arbusto's largest benefactor. The million-dollar purchase price was at least three times more than the stock he bought was worth.

Harken Energy was a Persian Gulf oil company which was formed in 1973. In September 1986, Harken Energy Corp. was a medium-sized, diversified corporation founded by Phil Kendrickthat, had been purchased in 1983 by a New York lawyer, Alan Quasha. Quasha seemed interested in acquiring not just an oil company, but the son of the Vice President. Harken agreed to acquire Spectrum 7 in a deal that handed over one share of publicly traded stock for five shares of Spectrum, which at the time were practically worthless.

Alan Quasha's father is William Quasha and is a Filipino banker, who had been at strong supporter of President Ferdinand Marcos. William Quasha owned 21 percent of Harken's stock. He also had advised top officials in Australia's Nugan Hand Bank, a CIA operation, which was involved in drug trafficking operations which originated in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.

The link immediately above goes to the main article. It is FULL of the "Who" and "How" for those interested in stopping the BFEE. Heck, most anyone would get a real DemoDonkey kick in GOOGLING those names. Some real scary people are occupying the White House, folks. The only thing they fear is the Truth. — Octafish

8. Agreed... and Kerry said Bush's incompetence let Osama escape...
It's no wonder Corporate McMedia don't want to give Kerry any free publicity, even when it's a matter of national security. This is from June, 2002:

US fears bin Laden is on the hunt again

By David Savage
June 25 2002

EXCERPT...

Senator John Kerry accused the Bush administration of making "an enormous mistake" by not using US troops to seal off the Tora Bora area of eastern Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan. Rather than being captured or killed, bin Laden and most of al Qaeda's leadership escaped, he said.

"The initial part of toppling the Taliban was a huge success and a great credit, due to the courage and capacity of those individual soldiers," said Senator Kerry, who is considering a run for the presidency. "Our troops were not allowed to do what they're capable of doing at Tora Bora."

In December, an estimated 1000 al Qaeda fighters had retreated to caves in the Tora Bora mountains, but US commanders relied on Afghan allies to mount an attack. "I think that was an enormous mistake. I think the Tora Bora operation was a failed military operation," Senator Kerry said on NBC. "We didn't complete the task of killing those 1000 people or capturing them in that mountain. We didn't shut off the back door."

Candy (Creepy) Crowley brought it up on B-roll last September, when John Kerry officially declared...

SEN. JOHN KERRY (D-MS), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: Two years after the tragic events of 9/11, we have not made our nation safe enough. Overseas, our commander-in-chief turned to Afghan warlords for the assault on Tora Bora. Osama bin Laden got away. And today, the Taliban and al Qaeda are regrouping.

And here on the home front, every investigation, every commission, every piece of evidence tells us that this president has failed to make us as safe as we should be.
