Hillary won't run, but why would you want her too?
it seems the wingnuts are out there terrified but absolutely sure that Hillary will jump in the race at the last minute and get the nomination and then if things continue to go bad for Bush their worst nightmare comes true. And it seems there are people here who think that will happen too even though Hillary has said countless she has no intention of running (if she was even considering the possibility I think she would at least be a little vague and make it sound like she has no real plans currently instead of definatley saying no). There's about as much chance of her getting the nomination as Sharpton.

What I don't understand is why some people seem to want her to run. For one, she is completely unelectable, as every single person on the right hates her and will show up to vote against her even if they're pissed at Bush, many in the center do, and now many in the left. I'd say around 45% of the population won't vote for her under any circumstances whatsoever. But she's not even worth it. So far she's been following the DLC party line and kissing Bush's ass at many opportunities. It makes me pissed that she even ran because otherwise one of the congressmen from NYC probably would've and won, and been far more progressive. I don't see any advantages to her aside from that she'd drive the right wingers crazy for some bizzare reason since she'd spend her term sucking up to them.

But seriously, why would anyone want her to run?

1. I concur...
and if Hillary hadn't grabbed the seat, Nita Lowey would probably be the junior senator from New York.

2. Oh good another Clinton bashing thread
Get a grip. When Hillary decides to actually run for the presidency I'm quite sure she will do quite well thank you.

3. Absolutely
She's leading all the polls and she's not even running! And that's just among primary voters! In the Bush vs. _____ polls, she has the narrowest margin separating her from Dubya than any other Dem running. Seems like people on this board just love to find someone different to attack day after day. When are people going to realize we are all Dems? In a two-party system, there is bound to be factions within the parties, but all lie beneath the larger umbrella of the party itself.

4. I think it's more "if" than "when"
she's never said she will run in the future and I think all this speculation is just mindless right wing fear. I don't see why people would want a polarizing candidate who's to the right of everyone running except Lieberman and to the right of just about every other Democrat in the New York congressional delegation.

5. She may run
and this could be the true reason why Gore not to run in 2004.

7. as I said
I'm sure she would say something more along the lines of "I have no intention to run now" instead of "I will not run in 2004" if there was any chance.

8. She won't run until 2008. There's a simple reason why.
Senator Clinton won't run in 2004 because she doesn't believe that Bunnypants can be defeated. Unfortunately, I don't think any Democrat will be able to defeat him.

10. or maybe she doesn't want to run at all?
And I fail to see how Bush is unbeatable when he's losing about 5 approval points a month and actually lost to an unnamed Democrat in the last Zogby poll. She promised to serve her full 6 years in the senate, so it's not like she was planning to run in 2004. I just hope she never does.

18. I agree
bush will be reelected and by 2008 the country will be so sick of republicans that Hillary will then run and just might be elected.

12. she won't run this year
She knows firsthand the power of incumbency, and that it is difficult to unseat a President if the economy is good - which it could well be by this time next year.

She also promised to serve out her Senate term, and I think she will. If Bush II is reelected next year, she won't run for the Senate again, though. She will spend the next couple years raising money for Democratic candidates and organizations around the country and run in 2008.

People should remember that Bill Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the Welfare Reform Act of 1996.

19. My Mother....................
one of the most conservative women on the planet, told me she WOULD vote for Hillary. Her reasoning; that men have screwed up this planet enough and it's time for a woman to take control. I told her that you'll never see a conservative woman running for president, as the cons think they should all be in the kitchen baking bread and vacuuming. I think you'd be surprised how many other people feel the same way. I think Hill is TOTALLY electable, and I look forward to the time when she decides to throw her bonnet in the ring. It will drive the cons absolutley nuts.
