The DNC Still Doesn't Get It
I received this e-mail from the DNC inviting me to join their "DNC Rewards Program." If I do, I'll get "special access" and "members only" benefits.

What is so friggin' hard to undertand about Howard Dean's grassroots popularity? People are tired of being left on the outside while those with "special access" are heard. The party regulars are as out of touch as ever.
----------

There is something you can do to help change America’s future. You can join the thousands of DNC members who will make a difference in the 2004 elections!

Our mission is clear. Victory in 2004. Your support to elect a Democrat to the White House and beat George Bush is critical. When you join the DNC Rewards program, you’ll not only be making a difference, you’ll have something to show that you’re on the team! All participating members in the DNC Rewards program will receive updates on breaking political news and special offers, special access at political events and parties, invitations to "members only" chat sessions and conference calls with Democratic officials and celebrities, and much more!

Politicians currently have to raise money, and, IMHO, anything that acts as an incentive to donors is a good thing, as long as it is superficial stuff like this, rather than corporate favors.

9. I take your point
and on it's face it has a certain logic, but it is repudiated by the fact that Dean, with his "open source" campaign rasied more money than any democratic presiential contender ever in a single quarter last quarter.

3. Here's how to buy influence in the DNC - it's easy!
http://www.democrats.org/leadershipcouncils/jeffersontrust.html

The Jefferson Trust is the "distinguished group of business, labor and community leaders who help to provide financial leadership". Minimum bribe, er, payment to get in is $1000 - a middle class family might be able to afford that over the course of a year, sort of like union dues, or you can get a group of 10 people to pitch in 10% and choose one as your delegate.

Just a few Democrats from every precinct and we control the party. Dean is doing it in a certain way, and good for him, but that's just about his candidacy. We need to build a permanent coalition inside the party and the DNC is the place to start.

14. Even after McCain-Feingold, a person can still give
Even after McCain-Feingold, a person can still give $25,000 to a national party.

Wouldn't it be more democratic if the upper-limit were lower?

4. All the Dumbocrats need to be voted out on their asses
Edited on Sat Dec-13-03 01:49 PM by maggrwaggr
We need to clean house and build a new one.

These people SUCK.

They are so utterly incompetent, clueless, and their heads are so far up their asses .....

Well you get the picture.

How hard can it be? You've got a man in the white house who has taken us into an illegal war, whose every word has proved to be a lie, who has committed treason by outing an undercover CIA operative, has killed thousands of people, been responsible for getting us into the biggest quagmire since Vietnam .....

(the list goes on and on and on and on .......)

And he's still sorta popular?! He still hasn't been impeached and tried ahd convicted? He still MIGHT win "re-election" in 2004?

WHAT THE F???!!

These people wouldn't know what to do if you handed them a winning lottery ticket. They'd use it to wipe the come off their cocks and throw it away.

They disgust me.

5. They can't even spell my name correctly
The other day I received my THIRD solicitation from Nancy Pelosi's office with my last name SPELLED WRONG.

I have returned the two previous errors with a note requesting correction. You can see where that got me. . . . .

And my last name is quite common and really very simple to spell (and has been in the news A LOT lately), even if my real name isn't

6. I agree actually
If you provide the access, the money will follow. Especially if you set up lots of ways for people to help raise that money. They really don't get it I don't think. *sigh*

7. Amazing that a Northern Pro business Elitist
can be painted as a populist.

Also amazing that he can be painted as being against the war, while he voted to enable it.

Is this guy another Bush?

13. Out of curiousity...

I went to the DNC site and searched for "DNC rewards program" and "Jefferson Trust" and isn't it odd that there are no results?

Honestly, if they're going to spend the money on target groups to develop a "frequent flyer - credit card" style pitch...you'd think they'd have the nerve to promote it on their website.

What's up with that? :wtf:

edit: I can never spell 'develop' correctly.
