Jobless recovery?
I coined the term Job-LOSS recovery several months ago in the stock market thread.. glad to see it's being used

However, with 3,000,000 jobs lost, more losses on the way, record deficits, states scrambling for money, taxcuts for the top 1%, and contracts going to Bush buddies... I think a more appropriate term would be.....

REPUBLICAN RECOVERY

1. and
what a wonderful recovery it is!

just keep telling people that the talking heads say this isn't a double dip, triple dip. THIS IS THE RECOVERY.
a bit like tWit's hangovers in the 80's.

2. You've missed the point.
* and his gang of thieves have bought two lies about the Great Depression, that it was caused solely by the collapse of the stock market and that it was cured solely by WWII.

Of course, neither is true, although both certainly had an effect. However, *'s gang's policies are geared 100% to propping up the Dow at it's 40% over traditional value while continuing just enough war to keep this country's remaining industry--arms--operating at peak capacity. Bankrupting the country so they can do away with all programs that benefit human beings is just icing on their poisoned cake.

So according to the * gang's philosophy, the recovery is proceeding beautifully. Every time the DOW flirts with 9000, just enough money rushes in to keep it above 9200. War without end, amen, is a fact. Good times are here again, unless you're a working stiff who depends on a secure paycheck and looks forward to retirement only if social security is around to supplement an inadequate pension.

It's a rich man's recovery, and it's going well.

3. reminds me of the saying,
the operation was successful, but the patient died.

i wonder if the repuke strategists are really dumb enough to think that unemployed people will care if the economy is in a so-called "recovery".

fuck Bush, we're taking him out.

4. Unemployment is the ONLY economic indicator voters care about.
Inflation, interest rates, et al are important, but when you vote, you vote on the security of your job. Dems will win big on the unemployment "insecurity" issue. The question is, will that be enough to overcome Bush's PERCEIVED advantage in homeland security? I personally think it will.

5. Recession/recovery -- terms that hide the truth.
Describing what we are in as a "recovery" is very misleading. People aren't interested in the GDP; they are interested in their PES (personal economic situation). What is needed is a variable that tracks the effect of the economy on average people.

7. "average people"???
Bill Gates walked into a room of 100 unemployed people, and Republican sycophants celebrated Bush because the average net worth of those 100 people increased by over $500 million!!
