If the Republican party is the party of god......
Why is it that the Democrats are the ones who safeguard his works?

The religious right is firmly on the right.
Right wingers clamour for school prayer, and religious icons displayed in public buildings.
Bush passes legislation that he knows "god wants".....

So......

If they love god so much, why are they so willing to destroy the earth he (or she ladies) created for us. why do they exhibit such ire when we try to save the animals he created from extinction.

To a religious fundementalist God made them all,
later sent Noah to save them...
yet they get pissed if we try to block them from destroying forests to harvest lumber.

odd.

1. The logic is ...
that God gave man dominian over the Earth, so we can do as we please.

Along those lines, can they justify allowing toxins to be dumped in the water and soil that can harm humans on the basis that "God will take care of them"?

4. I remember years ago....
Hearing Rush poo poo claims we are poisoning the earth.

He advocated dumping all our trash into the deep ocean floor.

3. fundies think God gave humans nature to USE as we see fit
The word that's used in the Bible is "dominion."

This can be shown to be a serious flaw in translation. A better word would be "stewardship," implying a RESPONSIBILITY to care for creation.

The fundies just ignore this because it requires some thought and actual WORK.

10. Steward is derived from sty-keeper as in pig sty
So If humans are stewards they can treat the place like a pig-pen????

Seriously though, the problem I see with the concept of stewardship is that it validates the concept of human control over nature.

I appreciate that much of modernities monuments to engineering/science (such as Hoover dam and DDT) are attempts to harness or control nature. The problem has always been the lack of humility people show toward their insufficient understanding of the implications of their actions.

We are part of nature, not apart from it. A steward can feed and water the animals in his sty, and walk away from the smell and filth that creates. We need to see ourselves as living inside the sty rather than outside it.

5. That's Because
Fundies believe that God wants humans to control nature (and animals have no souls), that such abuses are no big deal because the end of times are coming anyway and they're going to heaven. Trust me, I worked with a fundy for five years.

6. Believe it or not...
I went to high school (in the 80's)with these young Reagan worshipping right wing "Christians" who literally agreed with James Watt when he justified destruction of the environment by saying "I don't know how many generations we can count on before the Lord returns". Some of them actually believed that we should have unleashed the entire nuclear arsenal on the Russians because "Jesus would pull us off the earth" before the missiles hit :scared:

Apparently they missed the part of the Scriptures where JC says that He will destroy those who destroy the Earth

9. That's exactly what I was thinking
Don't they think He'll be just a little bit pissed at the way His so-called followers have destroyed this earth. Fundies are so distracted by their tunnel vision -- tunnel vision that is encouraged at the highest levels in this country -- that they don't see the mess they're making of this planet. They don't see anything because they are told what to believe. Their Bible is interpreted for them, and they are encouraged not to think, because independent thought leads to impurity. I lived/worked with these people for 10 years, so I know from whence I speak. They're a messed up lot.

8. Well I am one that believes in God
And I have spent many an hour studding and reading the bible and I understand it well
But the vast numbers are CINO and not only do not follow the teachings of Jesus but openly flaunt it and declare just the opposite of what he taught as righteousness.
Their clamoring for school prayer is one of those examples of holding the opposite of what was taught as truth. (Jesus instructed his followers to hide in the closet when they pray)
And it is interesting that in the prophesies of Revelations it says that when Jesus returns with his legions he will “Destroy those that destroy the earth”
For sure God loves the earth and hates those that destroy it.

13. Scripture says that to know God is to care for the widow and the orphan.
Does that sound like the GOP to you?

Doesn't sound like our party, either, but we come much, much, much closer to doing that consistently than they do.
