my opinion, this good news economy might be good news for dems

because bush will finally claim the economy as his. I've got relatives in florida, and georgia. I'm still not getting the word on jobs being plentiful.

I have a funny feeling that this economic boom is going to back fire on bush, just like "mission accomplished"

5. I think you missed the larger point

The original poster believes the economy will go further south. Let Bush take credit for the economy while it momentarily bumps, then use that against him when it reverts to its downward spiral.

8. I hear you, and I understand that jobs are a lagging indicator. but

the way they are screaming about the manufactories being off the charts, and gdp being off the charts. you have to wonder where are the jobs. I'm still seeing layoffs, I hearing about the productivity being high, but you have to wonder where are the workers. my productivity is really high and has been for the last two months, I'm working 12 - 13 hour days. I'm the only computer tech for 3 business units, they've laid off the other 2 techs. and those two guy's haven't found anywork yet. so go figure.

All this talk of a recovering economy is not resonating with the millions who don't see it in raises, promotions, added benefits, or even jobs. It's pouring salt in the wound. A jobless recovery will cause people to scrutinize just who is benefiting. And who is? Are our salaries rising? Our benefits? Are teachers being paid more? Or policemen? The Dems need to hit this hard. It's tied with Iraq as the issue.

7. Bush's energy buddies will cost him the election, IMO.

In Colorado, our heating bills this winter will be double those of last year, DOUBLE. We aren't getting more heat. We aren't using more gas. All we are doing is paying more money to do the same job.

That money is money that likely would have been spent on other goods and services.

The crash of 2001 was preceded by the energy crisis in California. When Californians suddenly had to pay double and triple the money for their energy bills, their economy tanked, and with 1/5 of the US economy in the tank, the US economy tanked as well.
