New Almanac of American Politics is out
http://nationaljournal.com/about/almanac/

Written by Michael Barone. I have every edition from 1996-2002, but I really don't know if I should buy one this year. The data and information in the book are invaluable, but Barone's writeups are so condescending and denigrating toward all but the most DLCish Democrats; and even some of them get trashed. He is just enamored with George W. Bush. His US News columns make Bush out to be a leader of Rooseveltian greatness and Churchillian strength. I don't know if I can sit through thousands of pages of that. Since 1996, he has been predicting an inevitable massive national landslide toward the Republican Party. His prognosis for how the Democrats can save themselves? Why, by being more like Zell Miller, of course!

the website has it out early.
JULY, 2003 NOTE: The Almanac is now available to order for residents of the United States and Canada. It will ship as soon as it is released, which is scheduled to be around August 1. UK residents will be able to order the Almanac for an August 1 shipping date as well!

Barone is an a**hole, but I find that the data is worth his obnoxiousness.

ON EDIT (after I made #3): I tried to get it at my local Barnes and Noble, but they said it wasn't out until September.

4. I like that book
It provides data on every Congressional district and state in the county. The author's views aside it is a valuable resource.

6. Michael Barone Is A Clown

I used to watch him on the McLaughlin Group during the run up to the 96 election. He was consistently predicting a Dole win.
