U.S. Daily Casualties
As of Tuesday, 233 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Defense Department's most recent figures.
The Pentagon reported Tuesday that officials found they had double-counted two hostile deaths. Tuesday's official count subtracts those two, and adds two new deaths, both hostile, resulting in identical figures to Monday's.
The British government has reported 42 casualties.
On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 95 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, according to the Pentagon's most recent figures.

A 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment soldier was killed July 22 when his vehicle was hit with a rocket-propelled grenade in an ambush on a convoy driving between Balad and Ar Ramadi. The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A soldier from the 3rd Corps Support Command was killed July 16 in a rocket-propelled grenade attack near Abu Ghuraib prison in western Baghdad. The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
