3. It looks like they are craven bums
But let's be realisitic. Based on what I know about Ron and Nancy's "love story", you really couldn't put it on CBS because it is just so tawdry. Ron was a serial rapist and Nancy was a serial Lewinsky, except willing, able and eager to blow every second rate star in Hollywood. Is the country ready for that? No. Nor does it serve our purpose.

4. Now REALLY !!!
Those were "youthful indiscretions"....

Ronnie is a Saint, and Nancy is "taking such good care of him"..She's up for sainthood too..(In reality they are richer than anyone needs to be, and she probably has more hired help than she can even find work for...Ronnie most likely has a fulltime nurse)..

Alzheimers is bad, and I feel sad that he got it, because it's a terrible way to die, AND because it creates this aura that he's a saintly man martyred before his time..

Like a caller said, if they are so determined to get the "truth" out there, then why did Bush lock up his papers??? Are they lies?? If not, then let us see them.. It's OUR MONEY..we own them..

5. I'm almost wondering if CBS had done it to protect the left
Look at the outrage before it even aired. If it had aired and if there was material they could hold under a microscope and say it was a smear campaign, there could have been a backlash amongst the sheeple. This way the right looks like a bunch of whining babies that need to be pacified at every turn.

7. Naaah.. Vivendi got their panties in a wad, and pulled the plug
They have no courage of conviction..

Every president (except Carter & Ford) has had movies/documentaries made about their lives.. Look at that piece of shit "GHWB Flyboy-Bailout War Toy" thing that has aired a MILLION times...

The Repubes loved Primary Colors because it made Clinton look bad.. Wag the Dog, they LOVED..Blackhawk Down they LOVED because it made Clinton look bad..

The parent companies of ALL the networks are conservative, and they fear their little "buddies".. We all know how astroturf letters work.. The cspan guy said they got 80,000 letters.. yeah..righhhht..

This is the danger of the pabulum..whitebread..vanilla pudding medfia that is being foisted upon us.. This is why we don;t get real news.. We get the "sanitized for our protection" news.. They have an agenda.

Their agenda is lowest common denominator..don't make waves.. keep 'em mesmerized... they aim for our shopping gene, and our bellies..Buy stuff, eat stuff, drive stuff.. Controversial, though provoking programming is gone forever..

6. Why do they keep saying Barbara Streisand??
Is she involved in the movie, other than being the wife of the actor playing the actor who played president?

9. I wonder what Republicans promissed CBS
I'm just going to guess that pulling an already produced TV show cost CBS maybe 10-25 million bucks.

I wonder if Republicans threatened them, or promissed them something?

11. stern had a good point...
Since the FCC is controlled by Republicans, if CBS did not pull the Reagan miniseries, he said the Religious Right & the Republicans would have used the FCC to prevent any sort of CBS mergers/acquisitions/transactions.

12. The Quid pro Quo . . .
. . .is clearly the pending legislation apropos the media ownership rules. CBS and Vivendi got nervous about angering the powers that be by airing this biopic. They are counting on this decision to drop the airing getting them what they want in the media ownership density debate.

That's the quid pro quo. It's simply a matter of "If we drop this show, what do we get?"
