My debate thoughts...(I know you're excited)

Dean (my guy):
1) Dude raked in $15 million last quarter. Why can't his people buy him some suits besides that gray one?
2) For someone who's so good on the stump he's horrible in debates. Why does he stammer so much? I've recommended a wee drop before the debates but he's sworn off the demon. So how about meditation or something? He has to stop that.
3) They also have to make him stop pursing his lips.

Kerry (my 2nd):
Thought he looked great for the most part. Then when he could've finished strong he brought out that wishy washy gun crap. Geez.

Gep (I'm a pro-union guy but Gep will lose):
I like Gep's pro-labor stuff but his war support is weak. Dude knows how to yell, that's for sure. Can someone make him stop pointing with his thumb or talking about "leading the fight"?

Dennis (the guy I'd vote for if the world didn't depend on it)
Note to Dennis supporters I LIKE DENNIS! I just don't think he can seal the deal in this one.
1) Looked reeeeally bad whining about Dean's ad. Although he wants to attack Dean as not being a true progressive this is the 2nd debate in a row that DK has given Dean time to speak on his time. Doesn't he see this?
2) Although Dennis is not very attractive (in the classic sense) in the first place these anguished, bitter looks that he threw out last night can only be described as orcish. My siberian husky ran from the room and I had to calm my son down from 2 nightmares after that glare.

CMB (2nd person I'd vote for if the world didn't depend on it):
Carol, Please leave right after you endorse Howard Dean. You're done. You know it. I know it. Give the players some more time to talk. Oh, and don't ever call me an "anglo" again.

Lieberbush (the only guy that might make me vote Green instead):
Came off good to the hawk crowd. He probably got points for use of the word "independent".

Edwards:
John, did you write it down?

Clark (I hope he runs with Dean):
1) Why didn't you get the suit with the BIG shoulders?
2) You need to bitch slap the next mofo that gives you any grief. You need to look strong and right now you don't.
3) Say you're in favor of mandatory vacation time for all americans and you win the nom.
4) I hope I look as good as you when I'm that age.

Big Al:
I know you have no shot but goddamn you can bring it! I love what you bring to these debates.

1. I agree with most of your points.

But give Edwards more credit. He comes across very well to apolitical or inexperienced people. He seems to be a good guy who can use a little better speaking ability and some more experience. I'd like to see him get some government experience and then run for Prez again in 2012. CMB is great and I hope she stays in it for a while longer. We need more women up there. Clark is extremely weak. He doesn't have practice speaking and doesn't have a coherent message. He could take some pointers from Sharpton. I think Dean, Kerry, and Edwards are the top dogs. Which one can beat chimpy, and equally important, which one has what it takes to get a Democratic agenda passed? I do not know. Ideas?

3. With Dean

My problem isn't with the stammering; I'll tolerate stuttering and stuff from people if they're honest. Dean's been over stumped and gives generic answers to questions and attacks instead of saying what's on his mind like he used to 8-12 months ago.

4. Yeah but I think that is to be expected

He has been at this for a while now, and I don't think you can answer the same questions repeatedly without sounding repetitive and having them come off as generic answers.

One thing I have observed about Dean is that sometimes he looks half crazy. But maybe he is. Who cares though, I still support him (and any of the others).

5. There's a few threads from last night about the debate you might want to

dig up. Many of us agreed that Kerry won, all agreed that Sharpton was excellent, Kuchinich didn't do very well and that Lieberman totally sucked. Most thought Gephardt was "non-existent" and that Edwards didn't do very well - but wasn't horrible either. As usual, opinions varied on Clark and Dean.

Some thought that Clark did well and some thought he did badly (even some Clark supporters). Some thought that Dean did well and some thought he did badly (even some Dean supporters).

My personal take:

Ranging from the winner to the loser: Kerry, Sharpton, Clark, Braun/Gephardt (tie), Edwards, Dean, Kucinich.

I didn't think Dean's performance was that bad - but I thought he got beat up pretty badly and didn't recover very well from the attacks. THAT'S why I ranked him low. Much as I like Kucinich - he didn't do very well IMO. I still think highly of him, however.

6. Good points, Edwards is ok.

I DON"T think Democratic candidates should attack each other. It is such a shallow, trey faux (sp) strategy. They should be embarrassed for being manipulated into such a bad practice. None of them win, and they look like idiots.

They all have good ideas, and attacking each other on minor points that Congress actually decides is ... argh...!

The formats used force confrontation in a very UNdebate-like manner.
