Yesterday I published a web site which hoped to raise millions of dollars to combat bush in the general election.

It was an affiliate marketing site, which meant that if just 1% of the 51,000,000 who voted for Gore went there and linked from there to Amazon, or Dell, or any of on-line merchants we were affiliated with, the site could make BIG money.

In the order of millions of dollars.

Unfortuantely, the freepers found out about the site and have been calling every merchant I link to, demanding the merchant remove me from their affiliate list.

Many of them have done so. It will be interesting to see which ones are willing to have a blatantly political site affiliated with them.

So the good news is that on the second day of existance, with my having sent out only ten or so emails - I got over a thousand hits.

The bad news is that most of them appeared to be Freepers.

So it goes. At least it kept them off the streets.

I'm keeping the site up, lowering my goal from $10,000,000 to $4,000 and will see what we see. I had been hoping to generate some cash to donate to DU, but that is looking a bit unlikely now.

Thanks to those of you who made helpful suggestions about layout, FEC and other issues.

And see what the referrer was. Some Freeper thread? Some other RW'er site?

You ought to send a letter to them to "cease and desist" it might stop them.

Hey folks just called corprate for office depot talked to a attorney through his secretary. He said everyone is entitled to thier opinion and basically didnt care that this guy was raising political money through thier site. You might want to give them a call 1800 937 3600. I asked for legal maybe the chairman or CEO might care.
