We're killing Christmas with our heathen, apostate ways! How dare you celebrate you fake holiday with your untrue faith to your false G-d. My Jeebus has a bigger dick than your G-d so therefore my religion is more important!

As for me: JEWISH and fucking proud of it! I am what Jesus was!!!

Come all non-Christian DUers, let's ruin Christmas together! Show your faith (or lack of it)!!!

:sarcasm:

Seriously though, I want to see how many non Christians are DUers.

3. I am a non-Christian but I LOVE, absolutely LOVE, Christmas.
I accept it for what it is, the winter festival of the cultural hegemony and embrace it. I embrace the nostalgia, the cultural trappings, the sentimentalism, the humanitarianism, the faith of children, etc. I fucking love Christmas ( and I am a card carrying member of the ACLU)

4. Right here
I don't hate Christmas, but I do think it's clear Christmas has, or is trying to obtain, nuclear weapons, even though the inspectors haven't found any yet. If Christmas refuses to disarm, I will support the use of force in disarming it. Christmas will not be another Vietnam! I simply cannot stand by and let Christmas ruin my holidays.

Truthfully, I guess I'm more of an atheist than anything else. But if you had asked me the day I howled just for shucks and had wolves answer me (Craig? Dylan? either of you DU?), or the day I kayaked past a bear, a sea otter, two dolphins and a whale, I might have answered differently.

7. Atheist here!

I like celebrating the Winter Solstice myself.

I could care less if someone tells me "Merry Christmas". "Happy Hanakkah", "Happy Holidays". or whatever... it's all good!

an atheist for 40+ years. i guess it was all those years of science classes that ruined me. :sarcasm: i guess if i were going to acknowledge any higher being it would have to be mother nature. she sure is making herself heard lately.

christmas has never been a big deal to me. winter used to bring (very) mild melancholia which was not helped by the tear-jerking holiday movies and i don't need any more 'stuff'. if only i could get the rest of the family see it my way. if christmas has any meaning to me, it is about 'presence' (of friends and family) and not 'presents'.

11. Atheist. Raised Southern Baptist. More damage...
...has been done in the name of religion than anything else in the history of mankind.

Not putting down all religious folk -- I don't even have a problem with Scientologists if they just keep the hell out of my way -- but far too many religious folk use it as an excuse for bigotry, intolerance, hatred and greed.

It's kind of like being a Republican, doncha know?

Atheist here that thinks all religion is a way to avoid reality. Would love to see krismus and easter erased from the calendar. May Jeebus have mercy on my inanimate inner being :sarcasm:

15. Atheist without Apologies
I used to say "I didn't know" when asked about a belief in God - hedging about my Atheism for years. I see now it was a natural attempt to deflect the criticism and dislike that many believers seem to have for those of no godly beliefs. But no more! So for the record - I am an Atheist. I don't believe in the existence of any all-powerful being, entity, intelligence or other sort of manifestation of "God" (or "The Goddess" for that matter). I do not apologize for my lack of belief and I no longer feel the need to explain it away. You may believe in your own version of a higher power (or not) as you please. It doesn't affect me in the least. I do not believe and barring the event of my personally witnessing a true miracle, I most likely won't ever do so.

:stepping down off soapbox:

16. Pretty much Undecided here.
Not convinced there is a God or gods. Not convinced any particular religion has the full truth on the matter. Logically unable to declare Jesus as the Son of God, seeing as I'm not convinced there is a God in the first place.

Still, I'm open on the matter. The way I see it, there may be God(s), but I just haven't been in the right place/time/mindset to recognize it. Then again, there might not be any such thing, in which case the worth of people believing in a fallacy only depends on what they've chosen to believe and how they practice that belief.

Example1: No God, but people chose to follow what is proposed as Jesus's example, of love thy neighbor, turn thy cheek, Forgiveness, etc... These things lead to people being good to each other, which I think is a good thing.

Example2: No God, but people chose to believe that only those who accept Jesus are good, righteous people, and that everyone else is a blasphemous heretic who should be burned at the stake. Ah. Bad thing. I'd be against that.

Example3: There IS a God. I'd like to know the truth, no matter what it is. Still, call me a perilous blasphemer, but I still withhold my willingness to worship such a God until I know more about its nature. Good, kind God? Once convinced I'd be fine with that. Demonic soul devouring God? Gee, I know I left Excalibur laying around here, somewhere... :)

So, I'm on the fence. How to convince me? In my opinion, the Bible, Quoran, Torah are all just books, works of fallible man. Quotes from them don't sway me very far. Any number of ancient artifacts have been proven to be forgeries created to support one view or another, so until one is found that glows with an inexplicable light and is surrounded with a bonafide angelic chorus, please excuse my skepticism.

Perhaps, someday, some undeniable voice will speak inside my heart, or George Burns will tap dance on my soul, or something, and I'll change my mind. Until then, I look to science to explain the universe, and my conscious to discern right from wrong.
