"'Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, 'don't kill me.'"

It seems to me that Junior might feel real comfortable with some of the comments we've seen on DU lately. I guess we (the People) really do deserve what we're getting. Democracy rulez!

1. It takes an especially brave person to face one's own inner violence
I don't know that many people would have the courage to do so.

Bush would kill everyone himself, with great gusto, if he had the chance. That
animal lurks in all humans. We have it in the US because we're a country the
size of Europe trying to act like a single nation, when we're not. When you have
a big country, the temptation is to become totalitarian. Tyrants love the death
penalty.

3. World War II did it for my father and five uncles.
Viet Nam did it for me. (Chimperor Disgustsus never had the 'benefit' of facing that.)

5. Anthropology sealed it for me
I grew up in a violent family and I went on to study anthropology. Once you
observe ape interaction, its easy to see that (1) the more ignorant the ape, the
more violent the ape and (2) humans are a lot like apes.

Hyper-emotional people tend to want absolute, black-or-white answers to complex
questions. Ignorant people tend to respond heavily from their emotions (without
any intellectual interaction). Down that road, imho, is the death penalty.

Liberals are always criticized for being "weak" (as if it doesn't take a damned
courageous person to be a liberal in the USA) and "too compassionate". Thus, we
sometimes try to puff ourselves up and act like sociopathic Alphas, in a wish to
be accepted. Its understandable. It takes a lot of inner searching to get past
it.

9. "inner searching"
Some find it easier to face the outer demons than the inner ones. Long ago, in my early adolescence, I contemplated the common bifurcation that most people modeled themselves after - the 'emotional self' and the 'intellectual self.' I decided I wasn't going to buy into that internal schism. I figured that a person constantly engaging in some inner struggle was using up a lot of energy that could be more useful in other ways. So, I decided I'd 'marry' (integrate) myself and pay attention to aligning and tuning my 'inner systems.' I actually still remember the days I arrived at this decision ... and it's been a decision that's served me well. Not without meditation and regular introspection, however. I tend to think of it as locating and untying the bottommost tangles and knots. I don't know how I'd be honest with others without being honest with myself. I don't know how I'd grow without that honesty. I'm sure glad I learned that lesson early.

2. Amazing, isn't it?

I hate these bastards who claim to know what justice means to those of us who have had family members murdered. I'm sick of hearing it. What makes me sickest of all is the way in which this society measures the amount of justice one deserves based on their income level. My uncle was murdered and because he was a low income alcoholic, the creeps on the Seattle PD dropped the case like a wet bag of dogshit. The bastard in charge of the investigation was later nailed for something involving stealing from crime scenes...but that's little comfort for 'the family'. The family was more concerned that a dangerous person be removed from the streets. But because my uncle wasn't rich, white, pretty, they paid it little time and the guy is probably still free, even 10 years later.

And to think we think it's a good idea to turn decisions of life and death over to these corrupt, shallow motherfuckers? What the hell are we thinking?

And we all already know Chimp was a cold hearted motherfucker long before Tucker was executed.

Edit: Changed obscenity to describe Bush.

11. Apples and oranges...
That's what I think, anyway...
There IS nuance here, for those who care to look; and absolutism can ALSO be a flaw...

Whaddaya gonna do anyway, study him? We've been studying him for 5 years now...
