Frist Says He's Ready to Block Filibuster 2 hours, 13 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Sunday he is prepared to strip Democrats of their to ability to filibuster if they try to stall Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court.

"The answer is yes," Frist said when asked if he would act to change Senate procedures to restrict a Democratic filibuster. "Supreme Court justice nominees deserve an up-or-down vote, and it would be absolutely wrong to deny him that."

1. If they do it, then when we have the majority again we sure as hell better
do it to them. Problem is, we probably won't and they know it.

2. Don't they have to break a bunch of procedural rules just to
eliminate the filibuster?

GOP are just a bunch of rule breakers.

3. This is a bluff
The monsters are weakened. If they go nuke-you-ler over Alito, it may well cost them the Senate.

Here's hoping Harry Reid's sat in on a few hands of poker and can see what Cat-killer Frist is up to.

6. Then the Dems better damned well shut down the Senate
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 12:59 PM by TahitiNut
No more "unanimous consent" for a damned thing! Read absolutely every piece of legislation three times on the floor of the Senate. No more "revise and extend" remarks .. for anyone. Subject absolutely every motion to a vote and make privileged motions at every chance. Make quorum calls every time someone leaves the floor. Make "calls to order" every time a Senator's ass lifts off his seat or they whisper to one another.

Fuck 'em!

...sounds like a game plan.

Fascism: Meet the organized resistance.

Congressional Resistance Fighters: We've got your back...and got it in the streets, if necessary.

Something about not getting an up-or-down vote?

10. If Frist THREATENS to get rid of the filibuster at every mention of one,
isn't that basically already banning the filibuster?

Call his bluff. Make him STFU about it or go on record as taking that step toward tyranny! Hold bullies accountable! Letting them win by default is no strategy.
