Bird Flue Drill

On CNN I just saw a story about President Bush's Bird Flu Drill. They say that he wants to "educate the public". What I'm wondering is that do most people realize that this is just a blatant attempt to scare them? Does the media take part and encourage this fear mongering? On that note, I remember seeing a expert on CNN testify that avian flu was not as big a threat that it was being made out to be, the CNN anchor then proceeded to bash him as if he had committed a cardinal sin. When are the American people going to wake up and see that this is just another attempt to scare them into complacency?
