Norm Coleman.
Did anybody see this buffoon on The Capital Gang last night? He looked like a ten year old forced to sit with the adults and endure small talk. He kept fidgeting and looking up at the ceiling. Later, when he finally spoke, he said he wouldn't consider the L.A. Times "A paradigm of virtue." I think he meant "paragon."

Needs to spend a bit more time w/ Increase Your Word Power, I think.

My loathing for him grows daily.

1. Usually Coleman is a smooth operator.
I saw him debate Fritz on C-SPAN, and sad to say, he unfortunately totally spanked Mondale. Coleman had the low voice volume, which made him appear trustworthy, was articulate, and in general, very, very slick.

I'm surprised he was sloppy on CNN.

8. Oh, C'mon! Coleman spanks no one....well, if he did...
...it had to have been because Mondale was sleepwalking.
Norm has only about two or three moves. He is obsessed with appearing Kennedyesque -- no really -- and his telegenic appearances. He is as shallow as shallow can be ... no core values, even conservative ones.
A sane Republican friend -- fairly high up in the mn. repub circles -- told me: Coleman was a democrat, one with exceptional blind personal ambition. He looked around the pecking order in the state party and saw three or four who would have a shot at governor or a senate nomination ahead of him. Across the aisle, there were but two, maybe three. Presto! Norm's a Republican. If he moistened his index finger, held it up and found the wind blowing in the Democrats' direction again tomorrow, he would shed his skin and be reborn as a dem.
Plus, he talks family values because it's what Republicans do...but he hasn't actually "lived" with his wife in years...she's a struggling actress trying to find a TV role...and he will bone anything. Watch for him to incur a nice sex scandal before the end of his first term. He left Minnesota thinking he was invulnerable to being exposed as a hose monster.
he is utterly despicable.

12. I've heard this about Coleman as well
I'm betting this comes out before the next election. Apparently, he was sleeping with everything with a pulse while mayor. If this comes out in the papers, he won't stand a prayer in his next election. Minnesota voters won't stand for a man cheating on his wife.

(On the debate thing, I think that Rush and his friends had already started to spin this election out of control by the time the debates rolled around. I don't think that many Minnesotans even watched the debates, except for the people who had already made up their minds).

3. I normally watch TCG, but I saw who the guest was
and I just could not take his smarmy attitude for more than a few minutes. I did see the "paradigm of virtue" statement. Even if he had gotten it right, it was totally unresponsive to the question. Typical repuke tactic. Attack the messenger.

6. He's one of the few Jews in the Republican party
Him, Wolfowitz, (rest of PNAC), and my governor, Governor Lingle in Hawaii, are just a couple Jews in the Republican Party.

4. It almost makes me cry to think
That this smarmy little Republican creep is the successor to Paul Wellstone's Senate seat. I saw last night's Capital Gang and was very saddened to think that the people of Minnesota would defile the memory of Wellstone by electing this right wing hack instead.

As a MN expatriate living in Bush occupied FL, I was equally saddened. BTW, welcome to DU. :toast:

10. understand....
Coleman won that seat only with the massive onslaught of right-wing propaganda that was constant from the time the Wellstone plane went down to theminute the polls closed. See the Wellstone/coleman chapter in Al Franken's book.
The right had their game plan in place BEFORE the memorial service even took place.
I was there. I shook hands with Mondale and then got to my car in minutes ... had it in a 'secret spot' near the exit.
as i was DRIVING OUT OF THE LOT...the right-wing radio dickweeds were peddling the line that would continue with Rush Limbaugh the next day and right up through the election.
All things being equal -- Wellstone kicks Coleman's ass. Coleman is a two-time loser (remember, he ran for governor and lost to, God help him, Jesse f***in' Ventura!)and the party figures he's had his chance and his service from that time is limited to stuffing envelopes....

11. Capital Gang
Anybody notice anything strange about Bob Novak (other than every word out of his mouth is pure crap!)? I think it's his teeth.
