9. Hmmm, I'm going to venture a guess they've never read A Christmas Carol
otherwise, Costco would most definitely not be on their list of "Scrooges". When you look at the way Costco treats their employees, they are as far removed from "Scrooge" as it is possible to be and remain in business.

11. The Reason for the Season?
Here's a list of "honors" from Macy's web site:

> Save 25% on hats, gloves, scarves for her!
> Save 10-30% plus values on coffee and espresso makers
> Save 10-20% plus values on electronic gifts
> Save 30-50% on holiday ornaments and décor
> Save 30% on boots for her
> Save 20-50% plus values on cookware

Exactly how does a 10-50% off sale honor the birth of Jesus? :eyes:

16. Ah, CWFA--your one stop place to shop for Right Wing Religious Lies!
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 02:50 PM by Bridget Burke
www.cwfa.org/articles/9657/MEDIA/family/index.htm

Their article in 2003 was an early volley in the War on Christmas. It included the address of Macy's chairman--so the sheep could exert extreme pressure. It worked.

www.cwfa.org/articledisplay.asp?id=5040&department=CFI&categoryid=misc

CWA was founded by Beverly LaHaye to fight the Equal Rights Amendment. She met her husband Tim at Bob Jones University. Here's one take on the LaHayes:

Tim LaHaye has become such a dominant influence in American Christian culture because he has defined the terms of America's culture war. In 1979 he joined Falwell in starting the Moral Majority. He wrote the blueprint for how conservative Christians could "take back America" around a conservative political agenda in his most important work, The Battle for the Mind. This book was a huge bestseller, but interestingly is not listed in any of the Left Behind books. (His new manifesto, Mind Siege: The Battle for Truth in the New Millennium, was released in January.)

In Battle for the Mind, LaHaye identifies with laser clarity what he sees as the real enemy of American Christians. He borrows the phrase that Francis Schaeffer coined, "secular humanism," and gives it sinister new conspiratorial definition. LaHaye asks us to believe that there is a monolithic group of humanists in America who have as their single agenda the destruction of Christian faith, family values, and democratic freedoms.

20. Please don't. It's CWFA.
CWA is Communications Workers of America. The Bell/NBC/etc. union, among other things.

CWFA is a modern day John Birch Society, bent on killing all homosexuals, which they won't admit. I know they call themselves "CWA", but they are co-opting bitches who have a MAN as a spokesman.

Sorry, but they make my skin crawl when they have the same acronym as my union.

21. LOL! I just realized something ...
Within the last month, I have shopped at Staples, Best Buy, Kohl's, BJ's, Outback, Old Navy, Applebee's and Costco. I have also done business with Verizon, Cingular and the U.S. Postal Service.

I have not shopped at any of the stores on the "somewhat nice, somewhat naughty" list. As for the "nice" list ... I did use my Capital One card and I browsed in Macy's, but I didn't buy anything.

So, I guess it's official .... I AM A SCROOGE! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Are all smiling and friendly to you on the outside, but internally they're taking in inventory of your shoes, your windblown hair, the lack of makeup plastered on. The sort who nod their heads when the preacher talks about the evils of abortion, but are meanwhile have scheduled a visit to Planned Parenthood with their 13-year-old daughter because having a baby would ruin her chances of being 8th grade cheerleading captain.

36. Keep in mind, some of those on the Scrooge list, such as
Outback Steakhouse, are also 100% repuke donators. So be selective.

The best thing all of us can do is scale down the material part of the holidays anyway. Less gift purchasing, more time spent enjoying ourselves and relaxing, that's what I say.

What an enormous bunch of flaming idiot fuckwads.

What a shit-bag mix of hypocrisy and lost irony.

Why can't those twits just take some responsibility and work out their mommy and daddy issues with ma and pa? Quit acting-out in public, annoying and intruding upon the rights of your fellow Americans before we end up sending y'all to mandatory mental health testing.

They keep calling us commies and Stalinists, we may as well act upon it and start locking them up in nut houses.

Jeez.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! What's the big fuckin' deal with saying that to cover everyone, ya' purposefully provocative, self-righteous, selfish, greedy, creepy-assed douchebags? Anti-social freaks.

Happy holidays!

Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 04:38 PM by CBHagman
I must admit the spokesman of the retired pillagers amuses me, though not the pain inflicted on his fellow pillagers (and their hapless victims), but I hate, hate, hate those David Spade Capitol One commercials. So I don't see how the company is letting its light shine for Jesus or something on that order.

Come to think of it, one Capital One ad featured the music of Tchaikovsky, who happened to be gay, as I recall. Do Beverly LaHaye and her gal pals know THAT?
