Lou Dobbs just said the State Dept. confirmed that the american hostage
was killed. Now it's official Ronald Schulz is dead. Terrible.

2. Yes, I have posted this other places here...
He was from Anchorage, and from all accounts was just a nice, regular, outdoorsy kind of guy who loved Alaska. This is a sad day.

5. Do you know how long he was supposed to have lived in Anchorage?
I've been trying to figure out if it was someone I used to know under a different name. The guy I knew (mentioned below), always talked about moving to Alaska someday.

7. According to the Anchorage Daily News -
He came up here about 6 years ago and later bought a house in Eagle River. :-(

8. Thanks for the tip
I checked out the story in the Anchorage Daily News, and unless he made up the whole life story he told me back then, Ronald Schulz wasn't him (my old roomate was a Ranger, not a Marine, and definitely wasn't in the Marines between '86 and '91). I can't imagine anyone describing the guy I knew as 'quiet and soft spoken', either.

The resemblance is uncanny, though.

9. Maybe this link will help...
...which gives a few more details about his background.

3. In the one picture I saw of him...
...he looked almost exactly like an old roomate I haven't seen in about 20 years. Except his name wasn't Ronald Schulz. His background would have fit doing something like what Ronald Schulz was supposed to be doing (though he should have known better if it was him). For all I know, one or the other name was a pseudonym.

10. Not just dead, but probably killed in a horrid, extremely painful way.
I feel so sorry for him, for his family. The blood on bush's hands will never wash away. Never.

I really don't get it why this administration takes this policy about non-negoiating with these terrorists....the man's life could have been saved!

13. As harsh as it might seem in a single case, I don't believe in ...
negotiating with terrorists either.
