1. Maybe Lieberman is ready to come out of the closet
and announce he is a Republican.

19. Absolutely!
The only ship he is on and was ever on is his own...all of his actions, including his latest..are for one thing and one thing only....he wants to be president of the usa.

32. Ah a riddle. Um...the answer is there is only ONE ship!
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 04:47 PM by Dover
You can't jump ship in order to board another when both the GOP and DLC own and operate the same vessel!

Do I get a prize?

12. Once he joins BushCo, he gets NO MORE MONEY
Fine--Lowell Weicker will get the seat. I'd prefer him over JoeMentum any day.

How much worse could it get? It's rather pathetic when you think that HE is preferable to Rummy.

I will say that there is one positive thing to come out of this, if it does occur: my friends in the E-Ring won't have to work till all hours of the night on Fridays, doing meaningless, hideous work that they do not believe in. Everyone will be doing the sundown Sabbath dance on their way to the parking lots/metro!

16. Because he was the only Dem to criticize Clinton over the Monica thing
And "conventional wisdom" said that Gore needed to distance himself from Clinton. If he had it to do all over again, I suspect Gore would have chosen someone else, perhaps from the west, and gone with the "hate the sin, love the sinner" strategy and put Clinton on the road all over hell for him.

Screw that "conventional wisdom," anyway...

At least Lieberman votes with the Dems on social issues. That wouldn't happen with a Shays, Johnson, or Simmons.

That would not surprise me at all.

Note the reference to "Lil Joey in the Chimp's speech.

20. "Neo" is not a prefix that means "Jew"
David Brooks' protestations notwithstanding.

Who's the neocon top dog? Isn't it Cheney? He's about as Jewish as Saddam Hussein.

23. Jumping ship? You mean becoming a Democrat?
Nah, he's more useful to them as a back stabber - he can justify headlines like "Democrats agree with W" like Hoffa Jr "Unions love W". As a GOP-er is worth zilch to them.

29. Hoffa Jr. KNOWS what happened to Big Hoffa. He's NOT going to
let it happen to him.

Knowing which side your bread (and life) are buttered on is a matter of survival. That's how the GOP works. You play by their rules, you live.

The GOP IS the mafia.

He doesn't belong in this party. I think he was a drag on Gore's campaign in 2000. He certainly didn't help.

31. It doesn't say anything in the article about turning Republican
but it does say he is being considered for Defense or UN Ambassador. I guess he could serve and still be a Democrat afterall Clinton had Cohen, a Republican in his cabinet and he didn't switch parties and Bush has Mineta who is a Democrat and was in Clinton's cabinet too.

36. In fairness to Joementum, please explain which votes by him are
pro-republican except for the Iraq war? He voted against
the taxcuts for the rich, he votes for every bill which
helps the poor, and voted for higher education spending
and almost every pro-democrat issue.

Heck even Kerry, Hillary, Edwards voted for the Iraq W.R.
The only difference is others have flipflopped on Iraq
war and Joe has stuck with his convictions. I am not
jewish so I can not walk in Joe's shoes and know what it
feels like to have Israel's very existence threatened.

Cut him some slack please. He is a good democrat.
