15. There is a war
It starts the day after Thanksgiving when people get blown over by suicide shoppers at Walmart and ends with Homicide drinkers at New Years. Mayhem reins in between.

17. I agree
Jesus has nothing to do with Christmas its all about the big business bottom line.Fundies say that liberals are taking Christ out of Christmas but I think he left it on his on a long time ago.

2. I answered the third one, but the choice "who gives a shit" should be
up there too!

Because, honestly. . .who the fuck cares?

4. Xmas has been diminished to how many sales WalMart racks up
on Black Friday. It has become the yearly spectator sport watching people fall over each other and pundits bemoaning the fighting but spending the whole weekend talking about what the sales numbers mean.

6. No
There is a war on reality, and the Republicans have begun to lose it very badly. The nice part is they're starting to look real, real stupid doing it - but then I've always had a soft spot for theatre of the absurd.

9. This is another one of those ridiculous topics used to
distract the public from the real news.

The repukes drag the flag burning amendment out every time they want to appeal to the moronic, single issue base.

10. Oh it's very important
Like Cobert said on his show...if there's anything Jesus cares about, it's semantics.

Maybe I have a personal wat this year. The sense has been growing but this year I just can't stand Christmas. Stuffmas is what it is. We have too much stuff but we get stuff from people and give them stuff they don't need either.
I have been declaring "No stuff" and if they must give stuff, send it to the stuffless from Katrina or the earthquake. Not to me.

I liked Christmas. I loved Christmas carols. I like the idea of the birth of hope and peace. Oh Holy Night was my favorite.

We sure have the weary world, but where's the thrill of hope that gets us to rejoicing. Where breaks a new and glorious morn?

bush and the right, I guess they are killing Christmas. They abort all we want to see born...the hope, the peace, the good will.

11. The "War on Christmas" has been waged for years by retailers...
Because of their crass marketing and commercialization of the holiday, fewer and fewer people associate 12/25 with Jesus Christ.

This is merely another manufactured front in the fundie war on secular America.

16. No.
There may be a select few out there who are actively trying to ban Christmas, but it's nowhere near a majority by far. I'd put the numbers of those who want to ban Halloween much higher.

For the most part it's just people who are sick of all the commercialism and the bombardment of Christmas that you can't get a break from even if you wanted to. I can turn off the computer, the TV, the radio, and I can still see all the Christmas lights outside and and the people coming home with bags and bags of Christmas gifts. And I live in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood.

I don't hate Christmas, in fact, I celebrate Christmas (in a non-religious way). But usually by the time Christmas actually comes around I've been hearing it and seeing it so much for the last two months that I'm just like, "Yeah Yeah Yeah, let's get this overwith."

20. It's not so much a war on Xmas as it is a war on stupidity...
And sadly, the stupid people seem to be winning this one. :banghead:
