Interesting LTTE, lie detector for SCOTUS nominees
Mobile Register, Alabama
QUOTE
Imagine how simple the confirmation of the Supreme Court nominee would be if we simply required him or her to take a lie detector test while under oath and answer the following question, "If you got the honor to serve on the highest court in the nation and a case came before you to reverse Roe vs. Wade, eliminating a woman's constitutional right to have an abortion, how would you vote?"

How ironic is it that both parties want to know how the nominee would vote on abortion, but neither party wants to be accused of actually asking the nominee how he or she would vote on abortion?

So they both scrounge through the nominee's past, looking for any sign as to how he or she might vote in the future.

After all, this is why Harriet Miers had to resign as a nominee. She didn't have enough in her past for the right- or left-wing extremists to decide if they could take chance on her.

A lie detector would cut to the chase and save a lot of time, money and political spinning.
