...name in vain? Do these people not realize how fucking stupid they sound? Jesus is not going to support torture asshole! And another thing, he is not going to support you and George Bush either with that philosophy. You better get a grip or you're going to find yourself in the middle of the kettles of hell, following your false prophets. How much more do you need, huh?

11. They did a "What if" rendition where the Kents didn't rescue the baby
and the baby grew up with the Amish . . .

I didn't get to read that part, but I did see some of the latter part of the story. Superman had no secret identity, but was very humble and at a loss for words . . .

16. I remember that but not the title.
He would always worn people before engaging in violence. I am trying to think of the title now but the name escapes me.

8. I listened/saw the whole exchange...I am amazed that these are the
same people who 'wept' at scenes in "The Passion of the Christ" and they have no comprehension of what they talk about. I pity the ignorant fools that come up with this kind of tripe.

One of the reasons the Nuremberg Trials were held, was to ensure that people who commit war crimes and torture would be held accountable. These people truly are fooled by their own ignorance....:(

10. Passion of the christ
Do you think it dysythensized (sp)- I couldnt find it in spell check - to violence in general and torture in specific? I mean I couldn't watch the commercials it really sickened me to see that.

19. I think that the most vociferous of the fundies haven't a clue...
Regardless of what religion, (or lack thereof), one considers him/herself it is difficult to argue w/the Beatitudes..."Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven". etc...:)

I have found no passage from Jesus that states that we should hate/torture/despise what we consider enemies...rather, we are told to love them and forgive them; hardly human rationale.

I think that many of these people go to the Old Testament, and do it simply to justify what they feel are "God's core values". If one looks at the teachings in the NT, one is usually shocked to see that sex is basically non-existent as an issue, but the condemnation of hypocrisy abounds. I find it astounding that this simple notion is ignored by so many....:(

15. That is the capper, right there. Crocadile tears for Mel Gibson's
... rendition of the end of Jesus' time on earth. But what a misnomer. The PASSION of Jesus was fighting all manner of religious hypocrisy, of every inhumanity to man.

If one wants to know what the man said, he wasn't subtle.

I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sick and you took care of me,
I was in prison and you visited me.

17. The GOP should change their name
It should be the Hypocrite party. I know most politicians lie, but the talking out of two sides of their mouth is particular to the gop.

13. The main symbol of Christianity (the cross)
is an instrument of torture. If Jesus were killed today, would Christians wear a tiny electric chair or syringe on a chain around their necks? They obviously have some deep seated obsession with killing and dieing that I don't quite understand.

as you don't say the lords name in vain. My god these right-wingers have to be the most ignorant, toothless, paint chip eating, protruding foreheads on the planet.

20. Truly incredible...and she must have missed the fundy part about
women being silent...:eyes:

Truly sad when one realizes that Jesus elevated the status of women when he did not condemn any that he came across The "Woman at the Well" was a Samaritan, female and from a despised group of 'untermenschen'...what does he do, he blesses her.

The "adulteress" about to be stoned, (btw, where was the guy in this story?), "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"...tossed their hypocrisy right in their faces.

Some 2000 years later, many of those that profess the faith, still don't get it.
