oh yea... white phosphorous? we use that. so?

i couldnt believe this shit. i was hanging out at the mall with one of my friends, and we started talking about politics... i said "did you know the US army is now using chemical weapons on iraqi civilians?" and he was astonished. so i explained to him about white phosphorous and how the pentagon is denying it, etc.

now check this out. as were walking, this guy comes up behind us. he says "whats that about white phosphorous?" and tell him that the US army is using it in iraq. this was our conversation:

Him: yea i know... im in the army, we use it a lot. whats the big deal?
Me: wait a minute... you were in iraq?
Him: yea, just got back a couple months ago.
Me: and you personally used white phosphorous?
Him: yea, its not a big deal.
Me: not a big deal? its a chemical weapon.
Him: no its not. its an incendiary.
Me: so then why is the pentagon denying its use?
Him: well...... i mean.... it IS sorta against the geneva convention.... cause it does disintegrate you and eat you alive.
Me: uh huh....
Him: but we use it on buildings, its really good at destroying them.
Me: but these buildings are in civilian areas, right?
Him: of course.
Me: so the civilians in the surrounding area all die...
Him: yea.

i honestly dont remember the conversation after that... my jaw was hitting the floor. all i remember was that the guy was really nonchalant, friendly, and couldnt understand what i was making a big deal out of.
