"Chipotle maple whipped sweet potatoes". How "regular guy"! How "like us!"
Down home regular guy Bush chowing down on his maple-syrup infused yams and asparagus tips. SO earthy and heartland America.

===

CRAWFORD, Texas - A free-range turkey will grace the Thanksgiving table at the Bush ranch tomorrow. The entire Bush family, including former president and Barbara Bush and the current first lady's mother, will gather for a traditional spread. Air Force One flew down last night.

Besides turkey, the menu will include fresh-milled cornbread dressing, pan gravy, chipotle maple whipped sweet potatoes, roasted asparagus and red peppers, green beans supreme, fruit ambrosia, fresh yeast rolls, and orange cranberry relish.

And for dessert, two kinds of pie -- Texas pecan and pumpkin. (Note: Reminds me of "TWO fruits!" at Gitmo.)

The celebrating at the Bush ranch won't end tomorrow. (Note: I'm certain.) On Friday, the twins, Barbara and Jenna, mark their 24th birthday.

The president is spending six days at his ranch. (Note: Not Thursday. Not a few days. Not a long weekend. SIX days.)

1. how sooooo hiiiiiiiiigh sociiiiiiiiiiiiehhhteeeeehhh!
now, who came up with that hiiiiiiigh soockcieeeeehteeehhhh menu.
was it barbs the elder, barbs the younger, jenna, poppy, laura dear, or granny dearest--the other granny, you know.....or, is it a menu from the days when dorothy walker graced the bushes thanksgiving table?

what will the elder bushes and their sonny boy be plotting against murrricah and the world as they sit, and eat, and chat and fart together this thanksgiving day?

Please, keep him at the "ranch"!

23. Makes me proud of my poor roots
the community where I was born didn't have electricity until I was 5 years old. My brother and I would follow behind the dynamite crew and pick up the old blast wire, we used it for everything. Made ourselves a couple telegraphs and strung the wire between our house and our log cabin, play house. He and I built it when he was 10 and I was 6. we built us a stove out of a small barrel and spent a lot of time out there. Thanks for reminding me of these fond memories.

Navigating the culture was a sitcom in itself. And I remember how careful we were with portions at dinnertime -- even though every adult in the household was working the best job they could find.

To this day, I can't look at beef tongue -- which was cheap and we had it 'way too often.

34. no kidding. And he's always putting them down ...
Telling not just strangers, but every reporter within earshot, that they are "whiners". When has he ever said something kind and encouraging about their grades or about what they hope to do in the future? I think that he is still resentful because they tried to talk him out of running for president ... and they aren't under the illusion that he is the coolest dad ever (as he tries to pretend).

Junior's big "thing" was to talk about how nice it would be when Jenna got married -- he wants her to have a ceremony next to a waterfall at the Crawford property. Never mind what she might think about this -- or the fact that the whole wedding party would be standing in the creek. No, Georgie has it all arranged.

It's like he never stepped out of the 1950s.

condensed cream of mushroom soup and canned onion rings, and sweet potatoes with marshmallows, and mashed potatoes with gravy ,and cranberry sauce that retains the shape of the can it came in? "Fresh-milled cornbread dressing, pan gravy, chipotle maple whipped sweet potatoes, roasted asparagus and red peppers, green beans supreme, fruit ambrosia, fresh yeast rolls, and orange cranberry relish" sounds like the menu at some foo-foo restaurant frequented by limousine liberals from Massachusetts or some such unAmerican fringe territory.
