Hilarious LTTE in this morning's Anchorage Daily News
You gotta love 'em.....

Liberal Democrats may be Alaska's bird flu; let's rid ourselves of them

I think it's high time that we use the Alaska National Guard to patrol Alaska's borders and airports to ensure that no more liberals/Democrats come to our state. We are having an epidemic and way too many are here in Alaska. So let's round them up and send them to Seattle, California or wherever they came from before we're all infected. Liberal Democrats could be our Alaska's bird flu; they are trying to poison our state and if we continue to let this liberal flu go unchecked, Alaska could have an epidemic that would harm our very existence. So to all you Alaskans who have not been affected, don't forget to get your liberal flu shot; just register/vote Republican. Gee, I just can't wait for the liberal Democrats to respond to this one.

---- Robert Ralls

Sterling

Sorry to tell Mr. Ralls that I've been a Liberal Democrat all my life, I've been in Alaska since 1975 and I'm here to stay.

1. Here Is How I Would Respond
Something about his beliefs must be weak indeed if he thinks he can catch an opinion like one catches the flu.

Perhaps he is not as much of a Conservative as he thinks.

2. That's not hilarious.
Some papers allow some really pathetic RW diatribes to be published. Believe me, this is not by accident. This is the choice of the Daily News.

4. Not reallly...

The Daily News letters generally run about two to one, at least, against the Bush administration, and their editorial policy is quite liberal. I think they posted this one for the laughs.

5. You know what kills me about these guys
is all of the government assistance THEY get.

Permanent Fund.
Longevity Bonus.
Senior Property Tax exemption.
Subsistence Hunting Rights
Subsistence Fishing Rights
Commerical Fisherman subsidies
Commercial Canneries subsidies
Native Corporations Land Allotment
Timber Harvest subsidies

Of course, other than that, all of these Alaska conservatives are "self-relient"

Ha

11. Alaska Permanent Fund
What they should have in Iraq.
What we should have in the rest of the US for: broadcast rights, federal lands rights, multi state aquifer rights, carbon emission rights, pollution rights, etc.

Universal Dividend of about $2,000 a year, for being excluded from the commons: broadcasting, occupying federal lands, mining, etc.

States could do their own thing for their natural resources.

12. Actually our dividend this year was just a little over $835...
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 04:18 PM by Blue_In_AK
...because the amount is calculated using the average of the stock market returns on the investments over the previous five years, and since the market has been down, so have our checks. The largest we ever received was $1969 in 2000. Interesting that you mention Iraq, because the late Governor Jay Hammond, commonly recognized as the "father of the permanent fund," was working on that very issue shortly before his death a few months ago. I believe he had actually traveled to Iraq to talk to people over there about setting one up for the Iraqi citizens. Governor Hammond was definitely a far-sighted man for setting this up at the very beginning when the oil first started flowing through the pipeline. He is one of the few Republicans that I ever supported whole-heartedly, and for far more than just the permanent fund. We lost a giant when he died.

17. Oh, SOMEONE needs to write a rebuttal -- very simple:
Something like this:

Robert Ralls is so right about ridding Alaska of all the liberal Democrats. That would help ensure that Alaska can have more bridges to nowhere, exquisitely symbolizing what an Alaska peopled entirely by Republicans would be like.
