We still have crap all over the place from Wilma, now it looks like Gamma is going to hit. Hopefully it won’t get too strong on its gulf crossing.

Welp, off to the gas station to fill all my gas cans tomorrow then the store pick up more bottled water & non-perishable food. This is the last one this year, right??!!!

This one will prob be a baby storm, but, thats what we thought about Wilma...... Better to be prepaired than waiting in 6 hour gas lines.

5. you know what
the times-picayune (new orleans newspaper) just had a big series abt how the people of the netherlands protect their people in amsterdam

none of this shit abt "don't rebuild" or "you are on land that will subside and is 20 feet below sea level" -- apparently most of netherlands is lower than city of new orleans and lower than florida

we have the technology

netherlands proves it

and they just quietly fucking do it

so what is our problem in the usa?

the article claimed the original tech used to protect netherlands was originated in new orleans and then improved after the storm of 1953 by germans and dutch

if they're smart enough to do this, why can't we?

it isn't like netherlands or germany had any damn money in 1953, they'd just been thru a huge soul-destroying and colony-eliminating major world war

yet somehow they protect their people

we are being cheated and we need to speak up because the fear of flood and storm surge could have been dealt w. decades ago

7. It's going to hit me before it hits you.
Luckily, I still have gas and the generator. Unfortunately, I just gave away my hurricane canned goods in a food drive earlier this week. Looks like I'm heading to the grocery store tomorrow just in case.

10. My insurance adjuster was here yesterday. For the second time
this year. We're on a first name basis. If he has to come one more time, I'll invite him to dinner.

I just got back from Key West today. The poor little Keys are so busted up. And so many dead and brown trees from the salt water. It looks a lot like winter up north without the green. I just don't know how we can do another bad one. I can only pray it will just peter out.

I remember I used to want to live in Florida. Not any more! I'm glad I live where I do now here in Tn because we don't have problems like that thank goodness. Stay safe.
