Bush, but his lawyer said the confession was obtained through torture. snip
Wahid said when Abu Ali would not answer questions after his arrest, members of the Saudi domestic security police decided to beat him into submission.
"They put him on the ground. They chain him to the ground in a bent-over position and they tell him to confess, confess," he said. "And they begin whipping him over and over again. After some number of strikes ... he finally says 'OK, I'll tell you what you want to know. Just stop hitting me.'" snip
Medical experts disagreed over whether Abu Ali had scars on his back caused by a whipping. Defense witnesses said he had scars that appeared to be caused by beatings, while some experts for the government said the marks were not scars but just areas of "hyper-pigmentation".
