1. The sooner we get out, the more
lives - American and Iraqi - will be saved. This is a "no win" for us. I'm noticing that more and more of the spin centers on "The Iraqi people want us there" - in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

2. Reagan "cut and run" after Marine barracks bombing
...in Beirut in 1983. We need to shove this inconvenient historical fact in RW'ers faces whenever they bring up the "cut and run" argument regarding Iraq.

3. candidate pushers
too many, even here on DU, seem more interested in advertising what their candidate says about ending the war than they do about posting on threads like this ... let them join the discussions in earnest without the sales pitch for their candidates ... yeah, that will happen ...

hardcore candidate operatives offer DU nothing more than the "pretense of policy" and the shallowness of their politics ... it's disgraceful ...

wishy-washy centrism on the war is bullshit ... we either build a movement on the tidal wave of energy that's had enough of bush's insanity in Iraq or we don't ... "mealy-mouthed, let's give it another year" equivocation is DOA ... first, the republicans won't go along with it and second, it fails to understand that public and political pressure is the only power we really have ... middle of the road programs will do nothing to derail bush's goals for a longterm presence in Iraq ... NOTHING !!!

"cut and run" is exactly what we should do ... i'm confident that the two Americans who will die everyday we remain and the 6 Americans who will be critically wounded everyday we be glad their lives have been spared ... and their families will as well ...

those calling for another year or more are condemning hundreds if not thousands to their deaths or to lives as invalids ... and nothing, absolutely fucking nothing, will have been accomplished ...
