Murkin's support Torture?
I was just listening to Andrea Mitchell who said that their latest NBC News poll shows that 55% support the current policy on interrogations and US interrogators doing "whatever it takes" to get information from terrorist suspects and only 30% disagree. I was sickened just listening to it.

2. from The Chris Matthews Show
Chris: Let's take a look at what Americans think right now. There was a poll by NBC. It talks about tough treatment and what we’re doing right now. According to a "Wall Street Journal" poll 55% of Americans right now are comfortable with the way we're treating terror suspects. Only 30% think we've gone too far.

Sullivan: I don't think they know the full truth of what we're doing. For example, do they know that we waterboard people?

Chris: Explain that. That's fascinating. That means you're going to drown, right?

Sullivan: We know for example because the Pentagon has said it forced one person in Guantanamo into near drowning and then they take you out of the water at the moment you feel like you're going to die and then they do it again and again.

Andrea Mitchell of NBC: I have to disagree, Andrew, I do think that because of the American attitudes toward the war on terror that people in America in this NBC poll by 55%, they don't want to know what the specifics are, they agree with whatever it takes.

3. I don't believe it - I think it's part of the media blitz to
make those who oppose torture feel alone and powerless. To prevent us from speaking out. But I don't believe it is true - when I called my congresscritters last week regarding the "Investigate the leakers of secret torture prison info" not the FACT that actual secret torture prisons EXIST - the folks answering the phones were being SWAMPED by callers complaining about the twisted priorities, and complaining about torture.

This latest drivel from Android Andrea is just another propaganda attempt - they're hoping if they say it often enough that people will believe what they HEAR. It worked well in the past 5 years, but I think the act is wearing thin. People are seeing through the deceptions.

I hope so anyhow.

7. That was on all the morning shows too! I don't believe it for a
second, but not knowing anything about polling, I think there is deception behind the question used to ascertain this response. Something like the ticking time bomb, which by the way, I still wouldn't condone torture.

There are some really poll savvy people here, please give us the skinny.

8. Horrible
Well I don't support it, and I really am dismayed if the numbers are up that high. Torture is not only inhumane, it's useless. I will tell you I'm Santa Claus in order to get you to stop hurting me. So torture doesn't get you truthful information or anything you can't get through nonviolent means. With B***'s numbers sagging so low, I had hoped support for things like this would drop as well, but apparently only one light bulb can go on in people's heads at a time.
