"God punishes evil leaders "
Just stumbled on this as I was searching for something else, thought I'd pass it on. Sort of the antithesis of Pat's comments I suppose..

God punishes evil leaders
Joe Crews

11/11/2005 2:45:17 PM

America’s leaders, having turned their backs on God, now stand before the American people and openly mock Him.

They lie to the Christian people of America, giving false testimony by saying God sanctioned this war. They lie, saying the “enemy” had weapons of mass destruction, that we must therefore reward them by giving them our precious gift of democracy. They lie, proclaiming how well the Bush War is going, claiming that their war from hell is just and righteous. These men, claiming to follow Jesus, command the bombing and slaughter of little children in Iraq, tacitly permit beastly sex acts against innocent teenage boys and the practice of demonic and sadistic torture in dark dungeons in Guantanamo Bay, Abu Ghraib and post-Soviet Gulags.

They cast our own young men and women into a brutal slaughter. They fatten their own pockets but cut off proper medical care for our own soldiers and Marines. They provide for their own double- and triple-dipping retirements but give pittances to the maimed soldiers and discharge them into the streets, many homeless, dysfunctional and broken in spirit. They create sadistic, war-hardened psychopaths of our young men, train them as fanatical “cool-aid” disciples of the regressive right, then turn them loose on our people at home.

The acts of this administration are the antithesis of the teaching of the Prince of Peace.

“But the wisdom from above is pure, first of all; it is also peaceful, gentle and friendly; it is full of compassion and produces a harvest of good deals; it is free from prejudice and hypocrisy.” - James 3:17

1. as much as one applauds this, one wonders why, if there is a deity, said
deity has not already smote this entire lot of liars, thieves, thugs and murderers.

5. certainly
actually what struck me when reading this was the idea that if Pat Robertson believes in a 'punishing God' then he might reconsider his own possible fate. :-)

2. if Jesus Himself
came back today and stood in front of the Capitol steps half the republicans would be calling him a green tea drinking liberal and Pat Robertson would be on scaffold with a hammer and a spike ready to pound through his palm-I'm convinced. They'd call him a charlatan and denounce Him for even suggesting that the 700 Club give IT'S money to the poor.
