Propaganda had a large part in influencing the middle third here. Another poll I read said that 75% of the people thought they had been lied to by Bush going into the war. So if he still has 36% approval but only 25% think he is truthful that means that there are 11% who believe he lied to them but still support him. No matter who is in power they see a letter after their name and follow it and approve of it in fear that someone with a different letter would make it all worse.

That is to say - no matter the job a person does some people will still side with an ideology over facts in hopes that someday things will get better because of a common interest.

The left pinned it's hopes on Clinton no matter what (In general) and felt that supporting someone with a D after their name was more important than attacking the same as such may lead to an R majority which would be worse.

The same thing happens on the right side of the aisle really. Better to approve * and crew and deal with their crap than to have someone with a D in office.

We take the worst of our own party over the best of another, the right does the same. It all seems based on fear, which is a damn shame to me....
