14. Roughly this percentage of Germans voted for Hitler
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 10:27 PM by Selatius
I can't remember if it was in the 20s or 30s percentile range, but I am leaning towards the 30s. The middle third, the moderates, either went for Hitler or were agnostic about him. Propaganda had a large part in influencing the middle third here. The final third, made up of trade unionists, social democrats, socialists, communists, Jews, Gypsies, etc. were targeted for liquidation.

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out--because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the communists
and I did not speak out--because I was not a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out--because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Martin Niemoller.

39. Base....
Bush's base, as in 1.) of inferior quality, debased, 2.) contemptible, ignoble, 3.) menial, degrading, 4.) of little value and baseless, as in 1.) having no base or basis, or groundless

18. "The majority of Americans are stupid" - this was the sentiment
posted by a big time Freeper (actual member of Free Republic) who posts frequently in the politics folder of another board I visit daily. He made the statement that...well, why don't I just find his direct quote:

"What would you expect? The media's been beating that drum for quite some time. The dullards who actually care, for instance, who wins Survivor, aren't going to sift through the facts."

I'm sure y'all would be SHOCKED to know that nothing like this posted by him or any of his ilk following the 2004 elections!

22. Type A personalities who can't admit a mistake
as mentioned by a DUer earlier today! And then the childish fingers in their ears type - think Janet Parshall. Rush, Hannity, O'Liely, Fox listeners/viewers. And then there's the "religious nuts" who truly believe he's God's gift - you know like Pat Robertson followers.

23. How About The 11% Who Are Absolutly Nuts?
Another poll I read said that 75% of the people thought they had been lied to by Bush going into the war. So if he still has 36% approval but only 25% think he is truthful that means that there are 11% who believe he lied to them but still support him. Explain those asswipes to me and I'll sleep better tonight.

27. the problem is they are NOT thINKing. they dont listen to anything
that will make the story they tell themselves it is not true. they listen to fox and others that will continually assure them that their support of bush is still the good and right thing to do. they only hangout with people that think only like them and dont challenge them. they go to churches where they can all support each other and their minister continues the story that bush was placed there by god

they dont think, they dont explore other ideas. and they dismiss anyone who expresses anyting outside of their storyline

that it's okay for the liberals to support abortion, because that meant it was liberal babies being killed. So, I'd go with fetuses. Just don't ask them to adopt any actual children, however.

34. They are bigoted haters, and are not that bright
There was a solid 30% all during the Clinton impeachment. This is the so-called "majority" who's always trying to boss everyone else around, by claiming to be a majority. the other 6%? who knows? perhaps they don;t even exist.

These people are willing to vote against their own interest in order to punish someone who THEY think is not "deserving"..

These are the ..."some people say".."lots of folks are saying".."polls say"..

These are the ones who love to speak out, but unfortunately, they know not of what they speak ...

37. Because they are like us I guess (to some extent)
No matter who is in power they see a letter after their name and follow it and approve of it in fear that someone with a different letter would make it all worse.

That is to say - no matter the job a person does some people will still side with an ideology over facts in hopes that someday things will get better because of a common interest.

The left pinned it's hopes on Clinton no matter what (In general) and felt that supporting someone with a D after their name was more important than attacking the same as such may lead to an R majority which would be worse.

The same thing happens on the right side of the aisle really. Better to approve * and crew and deal with their crap than to have someone with a D in office.

We take the worst of our own party over the best of another, the right does the same. It all seems based on fear, which is a damn shame to me....

40. You hit the nail on the head...this is EXACTLY why * had so much support
and why he continues to have the numbers he does (36%). That's about the percentage that are hard-core partisans.

These people are saying right now , "Bush REALLY sucks, he is an absolute MORON, but at least we don't have that pointed headed uber-liberal Kerry in office. Who knows how much worse he would have been than even Bush!!".

The Media has to poll the Club for Growth and a group of "Forbes" subscribers to get people who like Il Douche.

There is a group of people in this country who could give a shit if Shrub were to soil himself at state visits, just as long as their $$$$$$ keeps rolling in.
