The Media Are Minimising US and British War Crimes (Guardian)
The Media Are Minimising US and British War Crimes in Iraq (November 8, 2005)

The mainstream media's reporting of Iraqi civilian casualties has been both inaccurate and underreported. While the US and UK only announce the death of "terrorists" and "insurgents," groups such as the Lancet and Iraq Body Count keep detailed records of the total Iraqi death toll. Most journalists have chosen not to follow these reports, opting to stick with the official US and UK line instead. (Guardian)

The Unthinkable Becomes Normal (November 15, 2004)

Mainstream media trivialize atrocities such as the slaughter in Fallujah by describing attacks on houses, mosques and innocent civilians as "successful operations against insurgents." John Pilger warns that we must not let the media "normalize the unthinkable," and that we should question the hidden agendas of "democratic governments." (New Statesman)

MediaChannel Appeal: Join Us In A "Tell The Truth About The War" Campaign
Who should be targeted? Who can we turn to, and who can we turn on?

Why not the media!

Without TV and press cheerleading the war could never have won support. With pressure, we can encourage the media to move in the other direction.

Its time for a "SHOW THE WAR, TELL THE TRUTH" campaign aimed at unmasking media collusion and pressing for better coverage.

I think targeting the media often gets the most bang for the buck.
Sending them important stories, asking them WHY they are not reporting important stories, etc.
They do read their mail.

4. I agree.
It can be discouraging to be at the grass-roots level, to know the truth about an important topic, and to find that the corporate media refuses to touch it. It's important to band together, pool our resources, and make use of those tools available to us.

This is an important story. An important issue. Outside of the United States, people are very aware of the horror of what the US is doing in Iraq. We need to raise the level of awareness inside our country. It's not just 2000+ Americans killed.

5. last year as they were giving the swift boat attacks
plenty of discussion, the corp. media never got around to pointing out that actually there were war crimes in Vietnam. The National Archives are full of accounts. I guess if they haven't caught up on Vietnam yet, we'll have a long time to wait on Iraq.
But the thing is, we are not going to wait. We can't let them forget we know. We will have to be relentless.
