Social Safety Net. The new hammer it home right wing talking point.
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 04:53 PM by sarcasmo
Here in West Michigan yesterday the deaf were out front picketing a Pathfinders because the state was cutting more Medicaid/medicare funding. It makes me vomit when I hear the Christian Taliban Republican Reps from here using the phrase Social Safety Net.
When has helping the poor, the deaf, the disabled become known as a Social Safety Net. I feel this is the platform in which the Dem's need to run on in 08.
The Republicans have cut medicare and Medicaid only to give more tax breaks to the wealthiest one percent. Our next great Democratic leader has to run on this platform. If I were a senior citizen and voted Republican it would be like slitting my own throat.
We have two and a half years to get this across to the nations seniors whom are the biggest voting block in the country.
Exit strategy from Iraq would be the second message. How hard would it be for them to say we will begin pulling troops by 2007. The problem is that the Republicans view war as big business. Right now big business is booming so their is no need to bring home the troops.
Social Safety Net the Republicans say, the Democrats need to say taking care of our poor, tired and weak should be the number one priority in this country.
