Please write letters for Veterans for Peace barred from parade!
Write to this person:

Mary Ann D’Acquisto
President
Veterans Day Parade of Milwaukee, Inc.

Dear Ms. D’Aquisto,

If you want to honor vets, you want to honor their deeds and the results of their efforts. You say you want to honor all veterans, yet won’t include the Veterans for Peace in your march. If you are censoring some of those vets who you say you are honoring, how do you reconcile that with the American values our vets fought for? You are denying that which our great country was founded on.

A holiday honoring those who have fought wars for our country must be intimately wrapped up in politics. How could it be otherwise? To go and fight, possibly die or lose a limb, to give up one’s child or husband, to kill others, to follow orders or not…these are political acts. You are making a political choice, deciding which politics you want to allow and which you do not. It seems like you are saying that you will honor veterans for war, but not allow recognition to those veterans who favor peace. I believe you are being short-sighted, wearing blinders, to the greater world. Remember: dissent is patriotic.

Yours truly,

8. Here is mine.
Dear Mary Ann D'Acquisto:
How is it that Milwaukee would stand against ANY veteran desirous of marching in the parade? Veterans for Peace fought for this country! Embarrassment and shame upon you. You have become an object of contempt in America for this inept step. Veterans buried at Arlington are turning in their graves at this shear political contempt of War Veterans! You should not make distinctions based on personal beliefs as to who marches and who does not.
A Veteran is a Veteran, and is deserving of respect and dignity for service to America and not to be kicked to the curb as you have demonstrated in your behavior with your willingness to go along with this barring. You have an opportunity to timely correct this obscenity by allowing a permit for any Veteran desirous of participating in this parade to march and I would encourage you to do so.
