CNN's Newsnight Special Edition
Excellent recap of what has taken place over the last several years. Found it by accident tonight and am looking to find out when it may be shown again so I can record it but I can't figure out when it may air again. I can't locate the transcripts at CNN's website as they are showing Newsnight with Aaron Brown and not what was shown tonight. I really wish this was shown in Prime Time. Did anyone watch tonight's edition?

1. Are you talking about "Dead Wrong"?
I watched the first 20 minutes tonight.

This is the "story" of pre-war intelligence and what the CIA and other officials have to say about Bush cherry-picking intelligence to support the war, correct?

I feel bad that I didn't watch the entire thing. However, it made me so angry. This show parroted everything that's been said at DU since the lead up to the war.

We knew they were turning a few snippets of intelligence into worse-case scenarios and driving us to war on hot air.

I was so mad watching this. I just kept thinking--about all of the CIA agents who were interviewed---where in the hell were you two years ago, dammit! These agents were saying that Cheney made trips to the CIA and intimidated these agents into "fixing the intelligence around their policies"--and their need for war.

Others indicated that there was no link between Al Qaida and Iraq--and that no proof of nuclear weapons was found either. These guys knew this stuff back then, and they're just speaking out now?

So many knew that this war was based on fabrications. I just don't know how someone could sit by--watch shock & awe, witness Iraqis being murdered and know that our brave soldiers are dying for lies.

It sickens me.

Sorry for the rant.

The show really stoked some anger!

2. I missed the first 20 minutes or so
It went through everything - from The New York Times articles, Cheney an Condi on all the news shows, State of the Union Address, Powell and Tenet at the UN, David Kay, Tenet's medal of honor and Negroponti's appointment.... Step by step, lie by lie.

I am not sure exactly what it was called beyond Newsnight Special Edition. At several breaks, they had the name and ages of "the fallen".

5. Two years ago, on 10/24/03, three ex-CIA employees did speak out.
Larry Johnson, Vince Cannistraro, & Jim Marcinkowski testified before the Democratic Policy Committee. I saw it on C-Span & their testimony was riveting.

If you're interested in reading the transcript, here's the link.

3. Personally I had a problem with it
For the most part I thought the whole thing was done quite well. The problem I had was toward the end attention seemed to shift a little too much to George Tenet. Putting Tenet in there as the last thing you remember seemed dubious.
This is not to say that Tenet deserves to be blameless. Quite clearly he is not blameless. I do believe Tenet sold himself out to keep *'s approval.
I would have liked to seen more focus on the administrations activities.
Or even a single mention of "neoconservative" or "PNAC". No such luck.
Or even a mention from the media that they went along with the WMD story quite without question.

6. I walked in and my husband was watching it
so I don't know how much I missed but it was really good. What sticks out in my mind is Colin Powell. His UN speech, a black spot as he calls it now, was so full of lies and distortions, some of which he didn't even know about. I wish he wasn't so loyal to a band of thugs that made him go out there and sell his soul to the devil after such a distinguished career. A good soldier to the end? Maybe. But if he cared about the soldiers who are being killed and wounded daily, he would and should speak out.
