Under the cover of a
Flu Crisis Akin to Nuclear War the President announced his Bird Flu agenda in a feeble attempt to change the conversation from Iraq and the Scooter. What went unnoticed in the coverage of the story was this little tidbit from the
Washington Post:
Bush said he will also ask lawmakers "to remove one of the greatest obstacles to domestic vaccine production -- the growing burden of litigation," adding that "Congress must pass liability protection for the makers of life-saving vaccines." He did not provide any details of that proposal.Excuse me, but the Bird Flu Crisis is the fault of the trail lawyers?
This is the same old trick the administration has been using for years. Hype a story, whether it be terrorism or Katrina, to push the Republican agenda through.
