Haley Barbour campaigns with racist Council of Conservative Citizens
Look what I found today. Make sure this gets a lot of play in Mississippi. Wasn't he formerly the head of the GOP. I think this needs to get a hell of a lot of attention.

The election year Mississippi Black Hawk Barbecue and Political Rally held on July 19 drew dozens of political candidates and was attended by a crowd of over 500. The Black Hawk Barbecue is sponsored by the Council of Conservative Citizens to raise money for private academy school buses. (Pictured L-R: Chip Reynolds, State Senator Bucky Huggins, Ray Martin, GOP gubernatorial nominee Haley Barbour, John Thompson, and Black Hawk Rally emcee and C of CC Field Director Bill Lord.)

4. Thanks, its already done. . .
. . .I did a google and it got a little pick-up. But this needs NATIONAL pick-up. He is the REPUBLICAN nominee and I think it needs to be know throughout the country that the GOP's nominee in Mississippi is openly pandering to racists. We can all do our part wherever we live.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush Supports Haley Barbour's Run to Become Mississippi's Next Governor

Speaking to a packed auditorium on the JCJC campus, Florida Governor Jeb Bush told voters the choice is clear on who should be Mississippi's next governor....both Governor Bush and Barbour emphacized that a governor with contacts in Washington could help Mississippi.

6. So I think its important that the fine people of Florida. . .
. . .realize that their Governor supports a candidate with ties to a racist organization.

7. "Pres. Bush was the highlight of a $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser for Barbour"

JACKSON - Nearly a decade ago, when George W. Bush was running neck-and-neck with Ann Richards in his bid to become the Texas governor, he undoubtedly asked Haley Barbour for help.

Friday at the Mississippi Coliseum, the favor was returned.

President Bush was the highlight of a $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser for Barbour on Friday. Barbour, the Republican National Committee chairman from 1993 to 1997, is running in a tight battle with Democrat and incumbent Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove.

"There's no doubt in my mind that when you elect Haley Barbour as governor of Mississippi, Mississippi will get better," said Bush, whose remarks were met with loud applause.

8. It keeps getting better and better. . .
I think everyone should contact their presidential candidate and encourage them to let them know about the Bush Barbour connection.

21. The same Bush who accused McCain of having a "nigger" daughter?
Arizona Sen. John McCain praised President Bush on Monday for denouncing former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott's racially offensive comments last month, but said he regretted not challenging the president over racist tactics allegedly employed by Bush supporters during their showdown in the 2000 South Carolina primary.

McCain sounded uncomfortable while discussing the episode, which reportedly included attacks on his adopted Asian daughter using the "N" word. But the Arizona Republican made clear that he considered Bush responsible during the following exchange with radio talk show host Don Imus:

12. This has already been mentioned in the Mississippi papers
They hardly played it up.

I have followed the gov race and been frustrated by the lack of a single poll during the fall.

Below is a link to a mention in Mississippi. Get this, Barbour claims he didn't know anything about the council. Yeah, I'm sure the barbeque was a balanced group with a well-rounded chat. If you go to the Council of Conservative Citizens website, there is a link to an article entitled, "In Defense of Racism."

13. I saw that. . .
. . .I think it might be a good thing to take this outside of Mississippi. I think the fact the Bush is helping him raise money might be an interesting angle to push.

16. The "In Defense of Racism" author links to an article at stormfront.org...
...about which he gushes, "A truly spectacular work that I wholeheartedly recommend."

Nope, no bigotry there. :eyes:

14. begun in 1975
now, how can Haley not know about the C(K)ouncil of C(K)onservative
C(K)itizens

it's tradition!

The new council also took on the Black Hawk political rally, a candidates' showcase begun in 1975 that had the reputation, said former Mississippi Gov. William Winter, "of being an audience of segregationists."
