Worthless Juan Williams

A few weeks ago I posted a message asking if there was ever a point in Juan Williams' career when he didn't suck.

The best defense came from a poster who pointed out Williams' work in the civil rights movement. Okay, I'll give him that one. When was that, again?

I am so sick of this Republican shill, whether he's on FOX or NPR. This morning on Brit Hume's Laff-a-rama, Williams actually mused "Is Bolton working wonders" at the UN? Excuse me? Is this the same Bolton who was so obviously unqualified for the post that Bush had to shove him under the door? And he's working wonders? It's a wonder that he's working at all!

Williams may have done a good job in decades past, but he clearly sucks in the present. His commentary on NPR is consistently vapid, and his efforts on FOX seem to come straight from the NeoCon playbook.

but I figured out a way to stop getting pissed about it. Istopped watching FAUX. Then that felt so good I stopped watching cable news altogether. I still learn about all these whores on DU and other places and my wife still has the TV turned to CNN as background noise sometimes but I don't consciously watch any of it anymore and you know what? My blood pressure is lower, and I think I'm better informed.

I'm not sure where you got the impression Williams is a Repug. Certainly, he does an OK job against the panel...I'd say Mora Liaasson is more disappointing...

I don't suppose that Williams is in fact a Republican, but he does that party a great service every time he appears on FOX.

Smacking Kristol right now is like kicking a skunk in a trap; Kristol is currently helpless and desperate, and his attempts to re-ingratiate himself with the Whitehouse make him all the more pathetic.

Props to Williams for shooting that fish in the barrel, but it will take a lot more that that to redeem him.

As long as he continues, on balance, to play the flaccid liberal a la Hannity's punching-bag, Williams deserves no more respect than any other Neocon shill.

Whats-her-name is disappointing, too, but I think that Williams has fallen farther. Also, his continued presence on NPR makes him seem as though he's still relevant or insightful, and his appearances on FOX therefore seem a greater shame for it.

I watch that show just to see how completely unbalanced it is...they tend to cut off Juan if he dares to go off agreed pre-show talking points and positions.

Wlliams is a bit of a fidgeter and can get cornered quickly by the Hume/Kristol/Wallace neocon team with ringleader Hume at the ready to have the camera go to him as he snickers/rolls eyes/points finger/accuses...

I wouldn't call Williams anything near a Repug...I do seem to remember him getting close to calling all of them assholes and walking off...but it is a gig...and he does beat the shit out of Colmes and other lefties that get to have their 3.5 seconds to explain health care reform and other important issues.

Who else would you suggest? Someone that's not a PNAC signatory needs to hack away at them on that show...

13. In 2000 I was probably the only person in America who didn't know

who Bill O'Reilly was. Williams devoted an entire episode of Talk of the Nation on NPR to Bill O'Reilly. It was probably the third time I'd listened to Williams so I didn't know who he was either. By the end of the program I was thinking, this O'Reilly guy is fascinating -- a real working class hero.

So then I started paying attention to O'Reilly and it took me about 3 minutes of listening to O'Reilly's program (rather than the Juan Williams version of O'Reilly that Williams was trying to sell to the NPR demographic) before I realized what O'Reilly was really about.

From that day I have detested Williams (in addition to O'Reilly). I'm taken aback by how calculating their propaganda is.
