When did Condi Rice make a turn for the worst?
I don't get it. She was friends with one of the young girls that was killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Alabama. So, she knows all about the Civil Rights struggle. She was there when Bull Connor was running things. So, she knows all about the struggle poor people had to go through in order to stay one step behind. Not to mention, the struggle Blacks faced at that time. You would think she would know about how the "Haves" should be willing to make the playing field just a little balanced for the "Have Nots". I just don't get how she can work for someone who can care less about a huge segment of our society. How can she shop for shoes when the people from her very own home state is drowning. How can she constantly appear on television and lie; in front of congress, the senate, and the American people about stockpiles of WMD's another country have without concrete evidence. I just don't get it. And, I just don't get her!

<<snip>>
A ceremony Saturday marking a seminal event in the civil rights movement -- a church bombing that killed four black girls -- drew native daughter Condoleezza Rice, a friend of one of the victims.

36. No No No. The original post has it all wrong. You obviously haven't
read about Condi's upbringing. Her parents were the type that didn't agree with the civil rights movement. You know, blacks need to know their place and all.

I'm surprised that this isn't better known. She used to brag about how her father didn't believe in the civil rights marching and all that.

She never had a chance to turn because she wasn't there to begin with.

38. Interesting, I have never heard that before

do you have a link?

I had heard that her father was supportive in the Civil Rights movement .

Were they registered Republicans or Democrats?

I had no idea her parents brought her up that way. That really explains a lot! I just did not know.

It had something to do with all those years she spent working for big oil.

The oil industry is like an incubator for evil.

she gets upset when people call her a sellout! I could see if a few people say that, then I can understand her discomfort. But, when a large population is calling you that, that should make you take inventory of the situation!

11. She's a Power Ho.
She abandoned Brahms and Stanford to jostle for power under a president with the brains of a catcher's mitt.

There's a price for turning your back on eternal things like music and learning, especially when you abandon them for something no more worthwhile than the esteem of mediocre cutthroats.

Shame on Condi Rice.

37. Hi, Lancer.
Thanks for the kind words.

I'm mostly sad that the U.S. is represented by such people. I tend to zero in on Cheney and Rice because their betrayals seem more distinct, but I would admit that the entire administration could be accused of many of the same things.

My side lost last November. In a way, I'm still pouting over it -- not because I insist that tings always go my way, but because it was a lost chance. I don't believe the nation would be discussing Harriet Miers' qualifications if the Kerry-Edwards ticket had won.

And Condi would be sent packing back to California and Alabama instead of promoted to run the State Department.

Nice to bump into you on DU, and let's hang in there until the next elections (or impeachment proceedings!).

42. You may be right.
She probably enjoys being around such powerful people and thinks she is accepted as one of them. I think one day she she may experience a rude awakening. A lot of black people have a negative opinion of Rice. She is often described as a lackey, a sellout.

that chances were 99.8% that she'd be All Lies All The Time.

Some publication I read referred to university administration as "graduate school for liars".

Having had rather a lot of dealings with the lot at several such places in various capacities, that is indeed their most widely shared trait- relentless mendacity.

16. Don't forget, James Meredith and Charles Evers also are Republican's
It's incredibly baffling to me also, why these people turn Right-Wing. Meredith and Evers (brother of Medgar Evers) should be two of the LAST people to go Repuke...but they did and they still are.

Dunno, maybe they just want to be "different" or something, maybe they just want the attention they get as "Black" Republican's.

41. Here's two articles about the Repukes Meredith and Evers
Edited on Sun Oct-23-05 06:00 PM by ...of J.Temperance
James Meredith became a REAL sell-out, gosh not ONLY did he run for Congress as a Repuke, he ALSO opposed economic sanctions being put on Apartheid South Africa and he OPPOSED the birthday of Martin Luther King becoming a national holiday...WHY did people in the 1960s fight for such a shithead as Meredith? Jaysus, I'd have let him rot and get his ass kicked in...the UNGRATEFUL bastard. Oh yeah, don't forget him being GREAT PALS with Jesse Helms...of course, we ALL know what Jesse Helms and his ilk would have DONE to Meredith in the 1960s...Meredith would have ended up as Strange Fruit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Meredith

Here's an interview with Charles Evers, although a Republican, he doesn't seem as INSANE as Meredith...ALTHOUGH it's insane in itself that the brother of Medgar Evers would turn out to be a Republican. However, Evers comment that Louis Farrakhan is a 1996 Theodore Bilbo is TOTALLY BIZARRE.

Condi grew up politically under the patronage of Pappi, rising among the ranks of Sovietologists. I've heard she's also a member of a very right-waing fundamentalist church in Washington, DC.

18. Condi was raised "at the knee of " madeline albright. Albright's policies
have often been war mongerish; she supported the first iraq invasion and was slow to criticize the atrocities in Bosnia.

Condi seems to be drunk with power and apparently, is just a true republican, the Marie Antionette of our times it seems.

I think Rice's motivation to criminality was money and power.

She has become a puppet for the mega-corporations that are in control of our Nation, and in the process, lost her soul.

21. I'm reminded of the Lutheran minister, Biberstein,
who became a big shot SS Obergruppenfuhrer and headed one of the Einsatzgruppe that exterminated Jews in Russia. Unlike Condi though, he admitted he was troubled by some of the things he was overseeing. Now THAT is a major switch too. Recall that another Lutheran pastor, Dietrich Bonnhoeffer was executed for aiding in the plot against Hitler.

that's what the "condi glare" is all about

There are such little girls raised in the black community, too.

She was one who was raised NOT to be black, but to be as acceptable to white culture as possible. She has spent a lifetime being THAT GIRL of the window dressing variety. She's a lightweight who threw in with the Vulcans early in the Bush administration to win her way into the inner circle of Vulcans, which includes Cheney, Rummy, and Wolfy.

30. Did anyone ever stop to consider that maybe, just maybe
the death of her friend did it?

You know how people will go into denial when something bad happens? - say like when a woman is raped, other women might tell themselves it won't happen to them because they are not like the woman that was raped... that somehow they are protected from the bad because they are

Good
Neat
Nice
pick a word

so the victim must have done something wrong -

otherwise you are faced with "it could happen to anybody" - an ugly truth that scares you, so you grasp on to denial and cling tightly...

well, maybe Condi became what she thought would prevent her from ever being blown up...

just a thought

Course, Condi could just be exactly what she appears to be - and it's just her nature.

...the original motivations have to become just a footnote. As a direct result of her lies, tens of thousands of innocent people have died. Any mitigating circumstances which may have existed in the dim and distant past can't absolve her of her current guilt. May she rot in Hell with the rest of them...after a long and brutal period of incarceration.
