Pitts (R-PA) just felt compelled to remind us that
"we are the good guys in this war."
Yup, that's what he said.

2. If you feel you have to say something like that out loud
it pretty much means we aren't the good guys. Which is about par for most wars.

3. That tens of millions of Americans believe this is proof that you can fool
most of the people most of the time.

4. Oh, it's a critical fact.
The "pure heart" is at the core of the republican defense of just about everything. You can't prove bad intent, right? Bush didn't MEAN to kill tens of thousands of Iraqis, right? He didn't MEAN to get us in a quagmire, right?

Bush and the republicans are good christian men who are trying to do the right thing. Support the troops!

It has real resonance with the christian right wing, who see everything in terms of manichaen and apocalyptic struggle.

Me, I don't care about good intent if it leads to the same result as somebody actually working for the purpose of hurting America.

He's a hawky-hawk Vietnam vet who's still fighting every phantom threat to good-ole-American-Democracy he thinks he finds.

The Dems in his district really worked hard for the election of his opponent in the 2004 election (a bright, committed and all-around wonderful Democratic candidate named Lois Herr, who will challenge Pitts again next year).

Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to get a Democrat elected U.S. Rep. in red-red-red-RED Lancaster/Chester Counties, PA. No matter what you do, the knee-jerks just wander into the voting booth each November and pull the All-Republican-All-The-Time lever.

Pitts refused to debate Lois Herr -- because he knew he'd win no matter what. So, not only is he just plain WRONG on every issue there is, but he's smug and arrogant as hell. No, just arrogant. The man isn't SMART enough to be smug.

8. And he never got over losing the Vietnam war, right?
His little ego is bruised so he has to thrash around the world and make other folks pay for it.
